valentino catagorically denies it

untitled11

designer maven, valentino, handed over the reigns of his designer helm to maria grazia chiuri and pier paolo piccioli; officially the collection will debut via satelite as reported here, yesterday. valentino was quoted, to insight any further clarification needed to those wondering, he has hand no part in the creation of the “digital dimension” & recreation of the valentino label. the italian design legend has said, “If I decide to attend the presentation of their collection, it will only be as a supporter of two people I love and who have been close to me for many years”. & their you have it, the emperor has spoken. now we`ll all wait & see how well his non-participation will be for the label. im super juiced to see what both maria & pier have created. stay tuned as more developments in this story, or others related, will be posted as soon as they are recieved. lets hope they dont get fired after a few collections like fachinetti did. yikes.

valentino couture via satelite

00260mvalentino filmed the creation of his last collection for his luxury line during the duration of a documentary called, “the last emperor”. the documentary wrapped last season & now in celebration of a the label being under new creative direction, the italian fashion house has taken their high-end couture collection to an unprecedented plateau of visibility. maria grazia chiuri & pier paolo piccioli will unveil their first collection via satelite showcasing a renewed vision for the valentino label,  it promises “urban and sophisticated, dreamlike and digital dimension”. sounds impressive & i think it was a wise decesion to take the whole ‘digital dimension’concept & take the collection to an internet modern day technology driven showcase. london vogue reports: “the actual action takes place Le Grand Ampitheatre de la Sorbonne at 6.30pm on Wednesday, January 28, visitors to Valentino’s boutiques on Rue de Faubourg St Honore in Paris, Via Condotti in Rome and Via Montenapoleone in Milan will be able to watch the show in real time, as it is broadcast via satellite on specially-installed plasma screens.” stay tuned for more as this story develops.

jason wu`s secret revealed

74408435BB003_wuweareveryone knows his name by now; the designer credited for the gown worn by michelle obama ar the inaugural ball [if i have to type that again im gonna pull my hair out] jason wu is now being frowned upon by his family. word on the street is; his family caught wind of wu`s activities when he got the news & what he did to celebrate. the press printed information about wu celebrating with his boyfriend & finance director, gustavo rangel. sources say that wu`s family knew of his sexual preference but his extended family did not. in my opinion, why would you trip that people are “dissapointed” that you couldnt be more “discreet” they should be kissing his feet for him landing his design in the smithsonian. & i mean, not to feed into stereotypes because the dont always apply but- he`s a fashion designer- how much louder can his preferences be? get over it. its two thousand nine.

one week to knock it off

inaug-fash-boostsx-large1

Michelle Obama`s Gown, Bootleg Edition

its been a week since the inauguration took place & a week since michelle debuted her jason wu gown. officially we can all stop talking about it now; its been officially knocked off. allen schwartz, a designer infamously known for knocking off select oscar gown styles from time to time has taken it upon himself to create a replicated version of mrs. obama`s inaugural ball gown. the dress was created for schwartz` ABS collection & can be seen in the image above. speaking on officiality- im over hearing, reading & seeing anything having relation to this dress. seriously.

couture coverage | christian lacroix

christian lacroix`s interpretation of couture is always a journey through fashions best & worst; it takes completely different elements & pushes your way of thinking every which way. i have major respect for the house of lacroix because they continue to make things that push boundaries & defy regular interpretations. it is what it is. i respect it.

couture coverage | givenchy

this collection for me was fair, i thought it was kind of odd to see the whole over-ornamented chain around the neck thing the design team has been doing. isnt a large part of what makes couture suppose to be the fact that what is being done hasnt been done before? & shouldnt the pieces contain elements of exaggerrated shapes? for me the collection could have been improved in different ways- the beauty of couture is that designers have more creative freedom to take fashion beyond its regular standards & yank elements from the imagination to push your creative thoughts on what fashion is. this collection didnt do it for me. but i do like some of the pieces as well as the choice of colors.

couture coverage | armani privé

i respect giorgio armani for what he has done in the fashion game for as long as he has. however, the privé couture collection in the gallery below, for me, is lacking. i was astonished by the number of pieces in the collection itself & saving each image took time but each piece wasnt all that it could have been. for me in a collection i always feel that its about quality & not quanity. though i must say some of the detailing was done in true couture form, my overall opinion of the collection was as high as i would have hoped. with that said, enjoy the images.
