versace is one of the most popular fashion houses to emerge from milan in fashion history. created by italian designer, gianni versace, in 1978; after the tragic death of gianni his sister, donatella, took the helm of his empire as gianni`s heir. but some may not know that prior to the death of gianni, donatella held the reigns of creative control with the brands youthful womenswear counterpart, versus. think versace as gianni, a big brother & versus being donatella- like a kid sister type of thing. after donatella assumed the driver seat for the fashion house versus seemed to disappear into the shadows, until now. word by way of the fashion blogosphere is that versus will be re-introduced in the near future. more recently, christopher kane, has been seen as a protege of donatella, lending a creative hand in the couture side of versace with atelier. a capsule collection has been launched with kane as the main creative source, being overseen by donatella. the versus collection was always well known for being a more youthful collection as oppose to the straight sophistication of the main versace womenswear collections. im excited about the collection re-introduction & have included a image from the capsule collection above. more as this story develops.
