male model icon | jon kortarjarena

whenever i see jon; whether it be in an advertisment for tom ford or in an editorial spread- i always have this sudden urge to grow my hair out. i idolize his look, the dark hair- the whole shit. i die whenever i see him. its funny because its not the type of admiration that one would develop as sort of a high school crush- its an iconic type of admiration, like you’d want to be them. & isnt it odd to admire a style poised by a model; after all they are used as a faceless vehicle for a designers expression- added the fact that the face is a major reason for them being the choice vehicle. models are intended to be living mannequins, but in our society we are so fixated on glamour & beauty that we demand to know names. we want to associate the faces we see with personalities & lives that we acknowledge & understand. our society is built on celebrity, popularity, pop culture & fame. the models portrayed here on a daily basis are given names & given titles. why shouldnt we become more closely associated with the faces we see everyday? the posted images of jon are from a past ad campaign for tom ford menswear. iconic in their own right, the images have provided a foundation for the vision & image brought fourth by tom ford with his menswear collection. memorize his face & name: jon kortarjarena
