celebrating the 40th anniversary of apollo 11’s first lunar landing louis vuitton has released a special customized “malle mars”. the turnk will be on display at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History. i dig the fact that the house of vuitton is taking time to celebrate the lunar landing or whatever, but- for real -how necessary is this? the styling of the actual trunk is a bit odd to me. i recognize the retro aspects of it but i just dont think its completely necessary. louis vuitton has nothing to do with the space landing which happened 40 years ago. i guess there are collectors out there who go for shit like this though. in any case, its fashionesque. just not functional. who would actually put this to use? though a collectors item; its not so much a trunk, as it is a transforming egg with vuitton logos all over the outside.
