baptiste is fast gaining a reputation for his growing archive of nude or near nude portfolio. baptiste is represented by DNA model management & is the number one male model for a reason. his affiliation with karl lagerfeld, as the design geniuses  current muse, has afforded him incredible opportunities- editorially & in campaigns as well. mostly seen in work relating or produced by karl lagerfeld, some doubt & question the credit of baptistes’ success. most of his work involves campaigns with chanel, fendi & K by karl lagerfeld- all brands that are under the creative control of karl lagerfeld. in his bare-bodied spreads for publications wallpaper, purple & numero- as seen above, some ask: “would he be this large a model figure without the assitance of karl?”. his level of popularity on the model scene, in this short amount of time, is unheard of & truth be told, even without karl, he still has amazing looks. baptiste has appeared as the face of frankie morello for the SS08, he was seen in the K by karl lagerfeld lookbook & campaign for the SS09 season. there was no stopping there as he was seen for chanel, fendi & armani jeans that very same season. entering the FW09 season, he appeared with a cameo for chanel handbags alongside lily allen & returned as the face of K by karl lagerfeld. he showed up alongside karen elson for the chanel cruise campaign that same season, not to mention the many editorials & covers he booked along the way. the power of karl lagerfeld in the fashion industry is without a doubt, remarkable. now what happens when karl finds a new muse? will baptiste get tossed to the back burner like karl’s last male muse, brad kroenig? even under the wing of karl, brad’s career never blossomed to this extent.

you may recognize oraine as the dude who was cast as the djimon hounsou look-alike by kimora lee simmons for the SS09 phat farm premium ad campaign. represented by MGM model management, paris- oraine is completely memorable face & has amazing photographic presence. seen recently as a baby daddy for out magazine & also in the extreme editorial for vogue hommes japan’s third issue, oraine continues to gain notoriety on the modeling scene.

kim is represented by DNA model management. her extensive editorial resume includes features in vogue italia, harper’s bazaar, mixte, vogue germany, vogue espana, V & i-D. in addition to her impressive publication presence, kim has also nabbed a few campaigns major campaigns. she was seen for bottega veneta in the fall of 2008 & scored the pre-collection campaign for emporio armani for the summer/spring 2009 season. that same season she scored the sonia rykiel campaign appearing with the brands signature frizzed hair & beret look. this season, she can be seen in ads for  british womenswear brand, whistle. she’s the chick i compared to jessica stam in the green spread for vogue last week. shot by miguel reveriego.

luxury market demands increase in china

CHINAwhile we struggle to maintain sales numbers here in luxury markets in the US, china seems to be booming. interesting little fact, the chinese population expands by 10,000 annually & is expected to peak at 1.86 billion by the year 2030. with those numbers, its no wonder demands are reaching elevated levels beyond the US & european markets. in accordance with the escalating demands, companies, like the gap, are looking to expand in the chinese republic as well. taking advantage of a booming population can only benefit the lackluster numbers of the san francisco based retailer. though sales aren’t as lively for the gap as they were around 1998, the company still has a hold on the apparel market as “the largest U.S. apparel retailer by revenue“. while remaining on top of their game in revenue with as a stateside company, its only necessary for china to be the brands next conquest as their poplation edges closer & closer to out-populating the globe. plans to open the gap in china are scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.

beyond the walls of the gap & its cohorts like banana republic & old navy, are high end markets. much like the gap, other brands are looking to seek a rise in profits for their own businesses in keeping up with the climbing numbers of the chinese population. while sales at the gucci group have reportedly fallen to 6.4%, brands like louis vuitton are at a higher revenue expectance; thanks to the higher demand for the label in china. LVMH (louis vuitton moët hennessy), which owns louis vuitton, holds steady staying on top as the worlds leading luxury producing conglomerate. while gucci is sitting back debating over deliveries in a whole sale market, louis vuitton steadily climbs. reports say that the vuitton brand is ahead of the game in china, already conquering expansion in china. percentage jumps for gucci are reported to be 37%, which is major- but dont speak too soon because those numbers fall flat against vuittons 56% sales hop. reasons for vuittons unstoppable success in china is the brands ‘exceptional‘ demand for handbags. known rivals in the fashion game, gucci is nothing compared to the marketing giant of the house of vuitton. LVMH seen €11.9 billion in revenue for the first nine months of this year. within those first nine months the demand for luxury goods & fashion reached with the management group rose 7%, giving good reason for the french based luxury brand to open a location in mongolia. contributions to the louis vuitton revenue rise are being credited to the newly presented high end jewlery & damier graphite collections. while china continues to cash out bringing luxury brands & apparel companies, their higher demands & revenue calculations still come second to japan, as they reign supreme as the world’s largest luxury market. it seems that miranda kerr is looking to upgrade her rep from victoria’s secret angel to high-end top model. slated to have an upcoming spread in the next issue of V magazine, the images here are a preview of what is to be seen. miranda has already nabbed campaigns with XOXO in addition to her contract with VS, not to mention she also landed the pirelli calender for 2010. after ripping the runway for balenciaga at fashion week in paris one has to question- is the industry underestimating this chick, or what? if anyone would rep a top model chick it would be IMG, models strive to get campaigns & truth be told, victoria secret is a large contract to get your hands on. the images dont even look like her, which is always dope because models need to posses versatility. her upcoming V spread was shot by willy vanderperre, who is to credit for creating campaign images for jil sander, givenchy & vera wang. can this australian angel surpass the limitation that modeling underwear has pit against her? with fellow VS angel, adriana lima appearing in the FW09 givenchy campaign it looks like miranda isnt the only one looking to break into a high end market. exciting to see both of them stepping their game up a bit. im loving the preview of the vanderperre V editorial.
