represented by IMG model management, daria werbowy was enlisted for the SS10 balmain campaign. werbowy appears in a jungle setting rocking the collections military coat with leather pants & boots. i love the whole direction, but i just feel that this could’ve been done more beautifully. i understand the need to evoke a rugged style sensibility but this is not particularly glamorous. where’s the glamour? daria ranks as the no. 6 female model icon in the game so we know she can bring that shit on camera- but still, i just dont see it here. if fashion is a business & in this economy brands need all the commercial reception they can get- why not produce something super chic that makes you want to buy the clothes. guaranteed the bitches that are shopping balmain will not be chillin in the jungle in the middle of the night. i dig the direction but feel that something more striking could’ve been pulled from this. images for this campaign were shot by inez + vinoodh.
