david sims was enlisted to shoot the fall/winter 2010 valentino womenswear campaign. shot entirely in black & white, much like yves saint laurent & versace this season, the campaign goes even further to introduce the new age of valentino. here we see much more modern images from the italian house & see much more of a progressive form of sensuality. what i love about this new era of valentino design is that it really represents this sense of fearlessness; its not afraid to be dark, especially judging from what we’ve seen for the past few seasons. on the heels of the haute couture collection, im anticipating what will be presented for the summer/spring 2011 collection & eagerly await what new vision they will introduce. freja & jac both appear for the campaign as well & further assist in ushering in this new era i continually discuss. while i find that the nudity could have been much more artistically & creatively displayed, i can understand if the nudity would be used editorially but here campaigns are intended to show the clothes. i love the dark undertones of the campaign & admire the direction they’ve taken thus far.
