looking more like an artists exhibit than a fashion editorial, numéro continues to raise the bar of high end editorial. shot by camilla akrans, i am always imaginatively impressed by the photographic presence of edita- she remains one of my favorite females & her features are stunning. represented by DNA, edita can also be recognized for her spring campaign with calvin klein, in which she appears for the labels swimwear & white label collection. seen for campaign spots with blumarine & H&M, edita ranks as fashion’s no. 18 female model while locking down the no. 11 rank for sexiest. whether a cover or editorial spread, edita is always stunning & here we see that with clear indication. i love the use of color & the aesthetic of camilla akrans is a fitting form of perfection along with edita’s photographic poise. of lithuanian nationality, edita killed this spread & i am once more inspired. the bleached brow, the over extension of the cat eye- executed perfectly with a modern, pop-art twitst.

shot by daniel jackson, new model face emily baker appears editorially for the pages of vogue china. shot for the publication’s may issue, baker appears styled by marie chaix in the spread which focuses upon elongated design lines. baker’s lean physique & sleek facial features balance perfectly with the selected fashion pieces seen in the spread. from the warm toned lighting to baker’s beautiful blonde locks- im loving the simple elements of the spread; it’s not overdone & it’s almost as if emily’s own presence is complimenting the clothes rather than distracting us from them. represented by DNA models, emily hails from new zealand & has already began making a name for herself through runway bookings for viktor & rolf, hakaan, alexander wang, miu miu, calvin klein, altuzarra & alexander mcqueen- which isn’t bad considering that was her first season on the catwalk. also represnted in london, paris & milan- i can definitely see baker giving some of these girls a run for their money. first you kill it on the runway & then you conquer editorial- from there, campaigns & contracts can’t be far behind.

shot for the pages of GQ spain, sexy french female model noemi lenoir appears through the lens of sergi pons. shot entirely in black & white, heavy lighting & erotic styling by alberto murta allow the spread to become masked with sensual appeal while paying tribute to the work of helmut newton. i’ve always felt like noemie could have a larger presence in the modeling world, so naturally im glad to see her appear here. the editorial, though provocative is completely beautiful & noemie has an incredible photographic presence. as a lover of black & white photography, the images appear rich & sensual- two elements i look for when selecting editorial content. represented by elite models, noemie has had more noted editorial presence this spring & im hoping that this pattern swells through the season & into the fall to close the year. beautiful images, completely sexy.

through the lens of mario testino, british supermodel icon kate moss appears for yet another cover- her third this may alone. stripped down to nothing but gold cuff, diamond drop earrings & her own tattoos; kate appears timeless as the ultimate modern icon of the new generation of supermodels. represented by IMG, kate has had an enormously successful career & there don’t seem to be any stops ahead. while im glad that she still books covers & campaigns, some have cited kate as ‘boring in the face’ or ‘void of emotion’ – i think kate has mastered her own signature, it’s that punk facade with a bit of girlish innocence- those are aspects i feel from this cover & im always inspired to see a female at kate’s age, still working.

in an effort to clearly define the line that separates music from fashion, i find it important to decipher which aspects of high fashion influence other aspects of media & in-turn other industries. jennifer lopez is one female entertainer that crosses every line, into every industry & has lead the way for celebrities & their entrepreneurial efforts. from her clothing line, to her lucrative fragrance collections, her additional commercial retail collections for kohls- that is only the half of what jennifer lopez brings to the table. as an actress, lopez has starred in a string of major motion pictures which led to her singing career in 1999. with interests in a number of different industries, jennifer successfully understands the importance of image & celebrity & how to interlace all aspects with fashion. a marketable brand that surpasses the confines of movies, music & fashion; lopez debuts her new single for her new album, love? – which hits stores today. video model, william levy brings the heat as lopez relaxes in a pair of gucci shades under a set of palm trees. her bodacious silhouettte laced with a jeweled prada dress; lopez reaffirms her status as an icon, reminding us that she has not lost one bit of her appeal over time. musically featuring young money rap impresario, lil’ wayne, jennifer is seen channeling herb ritts in the videos opening, seen sexy on the shore while wayne himself makes no appearance. exotic & alluring, lopez is then seen clad in a crocheted/fringe gucci gown with diva-esque hair, inside of what appears to be a mayan temple. from there jennifer shifts glamour gears, appearing in the next scene channelilng a bit of a kenzo. appearing in a turban with bold liner in a phython printed satin gown, the video resonates a feel of fashion editorial come to life. dramatic shots of lopez flailing her satin gown in the wind- every transformative state of a true style icon are seen in the four minute video. a metal gown appears as jennifer lays out to be gazed upon by us lusting listeners as an expected dance break reminds us of j.lo’s beginning as a dancer from the bronx. from the beach to the mayan temple, from the silver screen to your computer screen searing through your speakers- jennifer lopez slays in more ways than one & this video is a clear indication of her apt ability to take it to the next level & show the rest of these fashion & music rookies how to deliver musical messaging. vivid glamour & impeccable style- this is musical messaging.

mert alas + marcus piggott for industrie

over 113 campaigns & over 44 covers in the last four years- mert & marcus are a testament to the fact that the fashion industry has a foundation in photography. appearing for the cover of industrie, a publication which allows editors & industry talents to steal the show- this cover was also self shot. of the internationally recognized photography duo, mert was born in turkey while marcus was born in the UK. meeting for the first time in 1994, following short stints working in classical music & graphic design; both mert & marcus formed as a photography duo & since then have changed the game. upon showing their images to dazed & confused magazine, they were instantly signed on to do a cover & from there began to dominate the world of high fashion through campaigns, covers & editorial shoots for just about every fashion magazine in this entire universe, no lie. with a signature aesthetic that taps into a feel of dark alluring seduction, mert & marcus are to credit for resurfacing the visage of high fashion- having shot campaigns for the likes of gucci, givenchy, louis vuitton & armani. having built a strong presence through advertising campaigns; mert & marcus recently shot groundbreaking covers for katie grand’s love magazine, as well as the current cover of french vogue which is on newstands now. delighted i am to see them on the third issue of industrie, following the first cover of anna wintour & a second of marc jacobs- mert & marcus are two names, ultimately, one team to know if you have any remote interest in fashion, photography or just plain dope images. unendingly inspirational, the mert & marcus portfolio is one of epic & astonishing feats. if you don’t know mert & marcus- you’re sleeping.

through the lens of tesh, supermodel phenom cindy crawford is seen in this modern fashion spread. is it just me or do you feel this resurgence of supermodel icons? naomi books vogue japan, christy turlington appears for vuitton fine jewelery. interesting furthermore is the fact that cindy has also shot a cover for elle china, a move which will only add to her already greatly established reputation & career. represented by storm models london, crawford remains at the top of her game & demonstrates her untouched skills as a supermodel in this spread. of the supermodels, cindy is the biggest. while not typically high fashion & more commercial in the way of mass globalization- there aren’t many who don’t know the name: cindy crawford. with crawford commercial advertising deals with companies like vitamin water, not to mention her line of skin care & her home goods & clothing collections at JC Penney- cindy ain’t stopping anytime soon. can’t nobody touch cindy.
