joan smalls + malgosia bela for stella mccartney, spring

i’ve waited practically all of through campaign season & have posted just about every campaign before this one & this is one of my favorites of the spring. shot by mert + marcus, our beloved joan smalls appears alongside malgosia bela for the SS11 stella mccartney campaign. photographed against a teal studio backdrop, style spotlights were focused on the collections denim pieces, signature boyfriend blazers & low rise heels. represented by IMG, joan smalls has had an enormously successful campaign season; appearing here for stella as well as campaign spots for roberto cavalli, gucci & a signed beauty contract with estee lauder. represented by next models ny, malgosia bela is have a wildly successful new year, appearing for two covers for the month of april & landing spring campaign bookings for nina ricci, iceberg, chloe & roberto cavalli, once again alongside joan. both make a fitting cast for the campaign which focuses on fresh style elements & inspiring creative interpretation in the form of textile, collage cut outs. it’s fresh & modern- the essence of what stella mccartney embodies.

bianca balti for blumarine bellissima

appearing for blumarine’s bellissima fragrance, top model chick bianca balti appears through the lens of michelangelo di battista. surrounded by cherry blossoms with flawless features & light cosmetic accents- balti is, again, one of my favorite females in the game. while i don’t think she’s seen nearly as much as she should be- i am always happy to see her booking campaigns. as the spring face of blanco, francesco scognamiglio & davidoff cool water i never quite understand why bianca isn’t as big as other females working in the fashion. represented by IMG models, bianca is of italian nationality & was originally rejected by elite models back in 2003. that rejection lead her to agency powerhose IMG & debuted on the runways of both milan & paris, walking for costume national, dolce & gabbana, miu miu, lanvin & hermès that spring. from catalog work with victoria’s secret to appearing as a covergirl for french playboy- bianca is one of the baddest. as a runway regular, somehow bianca is able to book campaigns & land contracts left & right- yet, i can’t get enough of this girl. check for this one.

jourdan dunn + sacha m’baye for burberry prorsum, spring

shot by mario testino, jourdan dunn + sacha m’baye appear for a this campaign cameo for burberry prorsum’s spring collection. during the FW11 menswear show season, i had inquired about the male model seen for runway look no. 16 at the dolce show & look at who pops up in the burberry SS11 campaign- yes, sacha. as i had made a conscious decision to  opt out of posting the previously released burberry campaign images, i am very put off by the segregation that is seen in the campaign. as if black & white models couldn’t be photographed together the campaign showcases a release of separate sets this season. i am not clear what message they are looking to broadcast. as two of my favorite model faces in fashion, im very excited for the spot no less. represented by women model management, jourdan dunn has remained a strong force in her return to the runway last year & the new year looks like the same powerful force; represented by select london, sacha’s star is rapidly rising.

karolina kurkova for bottega veneta, spring

appearing for her second ad campaign this season, karolina kurkova appears through the lens of alex pragner for the summer/spring 2011 bottega veneta campaign. represented by IMG, kurkova manages to stay relevant in booking multiple campaigns each season & she also booked the spring max mara campaign. walking for victoria’s secret & consistently booking & blazing high end editorial, internationally- kurkova holds the rank as fashion’s no. 7 highest earning & the no. 19 sexiest. though only a single shot is seen here, the open air shot with the bird flying in the backdrop is a clear indication of the campaigns direction. while bottega venete also boasts acessories- im hoping that more images will surface as the new year progresses. though not spectacular, i can do nothing but respect karolina for as long as she has been in this game & working.

kasia struss for miu miu, spring

through the lens of mert + marcus this stunning image was produced starring kasia struss. represented by women model management, the polish female models is to be joined by querelle jansen & sasha pivovarova for the spring campaign; though those images have not yet been revealed. going from playful to more upscale & mature, the powerful red floor combined with the mirrored backdrop is a sickenly ill accent to the incredible footwear from the collection & allows the printed designs & color blocking of the collection to be seen that much more. mert + marcus are among the best in the business & here they have proven their skill in creating marketable fashion images that attract the art eye as well. beautifully shot.

daria werbowy + clement chabernaud for ferragamo, spring

mario testino photographed daria werbowy of IMG models & clement chaubernaud of wilhelmina for the SS11 salvatore ferragamo ad campaign. refined & classically styled with a bit of italian influence- the images are perfectly produced for the spring season. the direction of spring is always much more relaxed than those of the fall; that sense of relaxation is projected well through these images by testino. the use of natural light & shadows is done beautifully. fitting for the season, completely.

anja rubik for fendi, spring

shot by karl lagerfeld, anja rubik appears for her third season in a row for fendi. shot by karl lagerfeld, rubik is seen against a painted backdrop equipped with a boldly lined lid & soft pink lip to further accentuate the collections playful palette. represented by next models ny, anja holds steadily ranking as the no. 3 female model in fashion. this ad campaign marks anja’s third for the summer/spring 2011 season, she also appears for lacoste alongside liya kebede, jon kortajarena & noah mills, as well as her solo gig which has gone on for quite a few seasons now with footwear label, guiseppe zanotti. all in all, she’s a major face in fashion & one to know. anja has becoming a face that automatically comes to mind when i think of fendi.

karlie kloss for dior, spring

represented by next models ny, karlie kloss appears for the spring dior campaign. clad in the iconic fashion houses seaside inspired collection, we see kloss against a teal studio backdrop along with element of the wilderness, including a branch & simulated silhouettes of palm trees. creatively, the fall campaign that kloss did last season had much more style validity for me; that said, the collection was fun & feminine- two elements which are well captured here. shot by steven meisel, this is karlie’s third dior campaign in a row. a feat not many models are able to accomplish, especially so early on in their career.

the complete gucci spring campaign starring joan smalls

what yo’ name iz?  joan smalls, karmen pedaru, hailey clauson, nikola jovanovic

not many feats in the fashion industry can make me gasp, but joan smalls is one model that has me on the edge of my seat every step of the way. through the lens of mert + marcus, joan smalls appears in this slight preview alongside karmen pedaru for the spring 2011 gucci campaign. you may recall seeing joan appear alongside raquel zimmermann for the gucci pre-fall 2010 campaign; & now it seems as though ms. smalls has become a certified gucci girl. seen printed in the february issue of british elle, this is our first look at the new campaign images. im completely overjoyed to see that joan has been successfully embraced in the world of high end fashion. along with her recent contract signing with estee lauder & now this, 2011 is shaping up to be the year of joan smalls. represented by IMG, joan appears along side  karmen pedaru of ford. though not seen here, speculation leads me to believe that hailey clauson of marilyn management was shot for this campaign as well, granted she walked the runway for the house of gucci for the SS11 show season in milan. male model, nikola jovanovic of ford models is seen along with karmen & joan for this season as well, proving him to be a gucci guy fave. joan is stunning!!
