menswear collections: D&G, fall
presenting a collection that came off more camp for the FW11 season in milan, dominico & stefano presented a colorful set of menswear for their D&G label in milan today. i admire the fun approach to menswear but could recognize very close similarities to collections we’ve seen from dean & dan of DSQUARED2 in the past. the licensing of mickey mouse & coca-cola are fun while still appealing to a younger demographic, which is the goal of the D&G label. while questionable design mixed matches were seen on dual colored sleeves, i didn’t come away as inspired as i have in seasons past with this collection. always a stunning male cast, we seen familiar faces david agbodji of request models & corey baptiste of VNY close & open the show. round of applause no less for presenting a new direction compared to last spring & the fall of 2010. great direction, recycled concepts but promising. bold use of color, not usually expected for fall- fantastical use of fur. congratulations to david & corey.

the fall D&G campaign

set in what appears to be the swiss alps the fall/winter 2010 D&G campaign capitalizes on winter fashion elements and is packed with models. the campaign concept is completely fitting to what was shown for the collection though i would’ve loved to see a more diversified model grouping. this collection was one of my favorites & the campaign represents the clothing well. aside from that, the campaign rates as fair. D&G has been packing their campaigns with models, known & not so much, for many seasons now- its almost expected that the D&G campaigns are booking blowout events. but i dont see any familiar faces.

menswear collections: D&G, spring
i was quite taken by surprise by how light & casual the D&G collection for the summer/spring 2011 season. the looks presented represent a quintessential spring fashion sensibility & love how fresh the collection appears. greenery, plaid & crisp whites were all seen within the set. a strong sense of design is always displayed with the D&G casual collective, a very strong fashion story & clear translation of cohesion & theme. love, love, love this collections homage to classic style. classic, chic & fresh.

pre-fall collections: D&G
dominico & stefano give you a pre-fall collection that seemingly fits everyone for every style option they could need for the 2010 season. options for all black everything appear in the collection, as well as polka dots- masculine tailoring & flirty dresses with a pink fresh, new take on the ever-classic pencil skirt. i love this collection, completely. seeing this makes me more anxious for fall fashion week in milan.
