rosie huntington-whiteley for vogue germany

represented by women model management, rosie huntington-whitely has been seen everywhere from victoria’s secret to her co-starring role in transformers. through the lens of alexi lubormirski, rosie lands a multi-cover november feature for the magazine’s november issue. while im not entirely sure how these covers will be distributed, whether they will issue special subscriber’s covers much like harper’s bazaar, or whether they will issue all three as newstand editions. while one more cover within the set remains to be seen, i have seen a low-res preview & all three are stunning. these two covers, i feel, more receptive too in terms of aesthetic beauty. i love full features on models & rosie has a winning combination. while her lips appear slightly different than the last time i seen them- i applaud the styling of jewelery & the cosmetics theme. it’s not too much, rather, just enough. as far as i have seen, rosie kills just about every cover she books so i am not surprised that they would release multiple covers. consistent delivery through performance, rosie is a star.

karmen pedaru for numéro

stunningly dark, karmen pedaru of ford models appears for issue 127 of numero thorugh the lens of greg kadel. i love when publications do a gold foiled masthead against a darkened cover shot. karmen has this heavy presence that is so stunning, she is the perfect girl for this cover, considering the styling elements. you may have recognized her through the gucci campaigns & most recently advertising for gucci’s cruise 2012 collection has surfaced in which pedaru is the star. while i love more than one fashion publication, i must say- numéro has some of the greatest covers & best editorial content. no shade to the vogue’s across the globe, but conde nast has a deeper foundation & much more established base as a commercial publication, which means they play the field with actresses & such. with numéro, there is a larger aspect of high end fashion as art that i feel coming through, consistently. recently, i took to the fashion forums & looked at numéro’s cover archive- in which is was surprised at how beautiful each cover was. cover shots are a major aspect of fashion publications because that basically the one shot to pull in consumers. numéro does it for me everytime, as they have so greatly demonstrated here. & let’s get into the ungaro torso/neck accessorie. sickening.

editorialesque » herieth paul for elle

animalistic through photographic presence & kate lanphear’s styling, herieth paul appears through the lens of KT auleta for elle magazine’s september issue. represented by women model management, herieth is of the new school of female models that channels greater bodily edge. in that, i mean she fits the bill for more experimental editorial. entereing the model realm in june of 2010, herieth originally made her debut with long hair & was re-introduced that december with a bold, bald new do. after her folicule reworking, herieth gained visibility rapidly. you might recognize her pretty little mug from her editorial bookings for black book, i-D, dazed & confused, as well as her vogue italia spread which was shot by steven meisel. teaming with meisel yet again, herieth was one of the many edgy faces to appear for the cK one fragrance campaign & followed that up with a campaign booking for diesel that same season. landing her first solo cover july of this year; there appears to be no end in sight for this tanzanian’s high fashion take over. im anticipating an increase in her model visibility for show season; as her looks fit the bill for more of the innovative labels. in her elle spread, i love the idea of fur in the desert- it’s unexpected.

editorialesque » iris strubegger + katrin thorman for vogue germany

through the lens of gregory harris for the pages of vogue germany, iris strubegger appears alongside katrin thorman in this stunningly styled editorial. styled by christiane arp, the two make a powerful combination & i must say, it’s nice to see iris. both represented by women model management, iris is seemingly the posterchild for supermodel androgyny. here, in the spread thorman & strubegger exude sexual energy together in a combination of masculine & feminine designs. beautiful use of studio backdrop & vivid use of lighting, i find the images tremendously inspiring. artistically, a number of elements including grooming, make-up & yes, styling are perfectly combined for the pages of german fashion publication.

editorialesque » liu wen for vogue china

a staple in terms of model casting for vogue china, there hasn’t been an issue without liu wen of marilyn model managment for a significant amount of time. here, wen appears editorially through the lens of lachlan bailey. with an urban edge, liu is photographed in motion wearing some of fall’s greatest fall pieces. from the sleek pony tail to the metallic make-up- the urban theme is executed well while pieces from a wide range of collections are presented. while i like liu & admire the direction taken for this editorial; i wish the spread was taken to the next level. the use of natural lighting, likely enhanced with reflectors & such, plays well against stoned stairs & is greatly complimented by architecture. these aspects could’ve been much more focused on & mirrored through the clothes. the sportmax pieces that were pulled, seen in black, have the most stylistic relativity when considering the set location but much of what is seen treads the line of boring. liu has the model potential, we’ve seen it before- as have we with the photographic work of lachlan bailey. though i like the spread, there is a difference between that & love.

ming xi for vogue china

appearing through the lens of daniel jackson, ming xi of elite models lands her second cover & first solo cover for vogue china, for the month of august. vogue china has had an incredibly interesting pattern & wining streak with covers & editorials for the past year in my book. while no publication is perfect through & through, the cover of this issue is slightly off but the editorial content delivers, where the cover lacks. commercially clean, the cover is a clear indication of what sells in china- polished females & fun fashion. styled by tiina laakkonen, the cover proves to be a powerful addition to ming growing portfolio of ad campaigns, covers & editorial spreads. chinese herself, ming is a favored female among chinese publications.

editorialesque » snejana onopka for vogue japan

classical chic is seen for the pages of vogue japan’s june issue, which sees snejana onopka through the lens of glen luchford. styled by anastasia barbieri, with hair & make-up by marc lopez & inge grognard; the spread is an inspiring set of black & white fashion pieces with incredible lighting. polished to perfection, there is something so beautiful about this ‘reluctant mistress’ spread. im leaning towards the fact that the combined elements of photography & style are fused incredibly well. there is such a strong message of sophistication, in the clothes that are pulled, in the way the make-up is applied, subtle & still a perfect accentuation. i live & love these forms of glamour that have been greatly represented here. i applaud all parties who contributed to the birth of this spread. inspired, tremendously by how sharp & chic this has been produced. represented by silent models, snejana hails from the ukraine & can be recognized from her recent vogue paris features & campaign spots with both etro & emillio pucci eyewear. obsessed with these aesthetics, for real.

isabeli fontana for vogue paris

through the commerciallly pure styling vision of emmanuelle alt, editor in chief of french vogue, isabeli fontana appears for the publication’s june cover. shot by mert + marcus, bronzed skin & vivid color take the stage as isabeli appears stunning looking something like linda evangelista. while the cover shot & editorial feature have been compared to photographic work by steven meisel, i love & can clearly distinguish which work is under the direction of alt. in the fashion publication game, the editors, especially the editors in chief, have this unbreakable reign once put into position & french vogue has an incredibly interesting timeline as of late concerning this heirarchy. emmanuelle alt, once the fashion editor at french vogue, you may remember as taking her place as chief february of this year. after replacing the void left from carine roitfeld, roitfeld herself has addressed the issue & revealed some interesting rumors in a recent interview had with the financial times. roitfeld broke new ground as the head of french vogue, allowing transgendered models the platform for fashion fame & used excessive nudity in tandem with jaw dropping, high-end glamour. for this roitfeld says that xavier romatet, heavy-hitting president of condé nast france, “didn’t like” her use of experimentation at the magazine. granted roitfeld has moved on, announcing projects with barney’s new york, what i respect about roitfeld is her approach to fashion as art. throughout the interview, roitfeld had discussed everything from her ex-friend editor in chief to mcqueen to galliano- the one thing that seemed to be a recurring theme was the concept of ‘artistry’. this approach resonates greatly with me & mirrors my own approach & for that i will always respect carine roitfeld. granted, my respect for roitfeld doesn’t effect the love i have for the commercial polish alt has broughten to the table- it’s just a different vision. noticeably, the re-introduction of french vogue has been seen under the direction of alt & through beautiful execution, this cover demonstrates that with fervor. all in all, the cover is stunning & with time things change. from french seduction to commercialized beauty at the end of the day the fashion industry has been built to sell fantasies of beauty; products both alt & roitfeld have sold incredibly well. i can easily separate the vision of both & for that, im inspired.

erin wasson for vogue españa

shot by alexi lubomirski, styled by belén antolín, erin wasson appears beautifully for the june cover of vogue españa. within the issue, wasson is seen starring alongside andres velencoso sgura for her sixteen page spread which also contains a nude shot. thoughtfully exotic, wasson looks flawless & the covers creative elements provide the perfect contrast for that españa feel. represented by IMG, wasson is a standout on the model scene for her personal style; occasional gigs as designer & even stylist have added to wasson’s appeal all while she continues to book covers, campaigns & editorial features. born in the U.S.A., you might also recognize erin as one of three contracted faces for maybelline cosmetics.

editorialesque » emily baker for vogue china

shot by daniel jackson, new model face emily baker appears editorially for the pages of vogue china. shot for the publication’s may issue, baker appears styled by marie chaix in the spread which focuses upon elongated design lines. baker’s lean physique & sleek facial features balance perfectly with the selected fashion pieces seen in the spread. from the warm toned lighting to baker’s beautiful blonde locks- im loving the simple elements of the spread; it’s not overdone & it’s almost as if emily’s own presence is complimenting the clothes rather than distracting us from them. represented by DNA models, emily hails from new zealand & has already began making a name for herself through runway bookings for viktor & rolf, hakaan, alexander wang, miu miu, calvin klein, altuzarra & alexander mcqueen- which isn’t bad considering that was her first season on the catwalk. also represnted in london, paris & milan- i can definitely see baker giving some of these girls a run for their money. first you kill it on the runway & then you conquer editorial- from there, campaigns & contracts can’t be far behind.
