through the lens of tesh, supermodel phenom cindy crawford is seen in this modern fashion spread. is it just me or do you feel this resurgence of supermodel icons? naomi books vogue japan, christy turlington appears for vuitton fine jewelery. interesting furthermore is the fact that cindy has also shot a cover for elle china, a move which will only add to her already greatly established reputation & career. represented by storm models london, crawford remains at the top of her game & demonstrates her untouched skills as a supermodel in this spread. of the supermodels, cindy is the biggest. while not typically high fashion & more commercial in the way of mass globalization- there aren’t many who don’t know the name: cindy crawford. with crawford commercial advertising deals with companies like vitamin water, not to mention her line of skin care & her home goods & clothing collections at JC Penney- cindy ain’t stopping anytime soon. can’t nobody touch cindy.

for the pages of vogue paris, malgosia bela of next models ny appears in this black & white editorial spread shot by inez + vinoodh. malgosia makes graphics gush for the pages of the publication’s may issue as we see combined element of horizontal stripes, as well as polka dots & some aspects of sequins. after becoming aware of malgosia, i will say; i began to expect this dark, broody & intensely seductive photographic presence whenever seeing her name & ever since she shot the spring chloe campaign & was photographed smiling, im almost looking for the next time she will smile again. granted that many aspects of high fashion don’t often associate with smiling or showing teeth, mind you cristobal balenciaga though showing teeth was completely vulgar; i think it says a lot when a model can add a notch of versatility to her belt with a single smile. the spread seen here contains depth through greyscale & adds a light overtone through malgosia’s presence.

through the lens of sharif hamza, joan smalls appeared for the new york times in this caftan trend spotlighting spread. styled by ethel park, smalls appears clad in white with a bit of a bleached brow in this artistically interpreted spread. represented by IMG, joan appears unendingly chic in spring’s caftan piece, a trend of the current season. among my never ending list of female fashion favorites, nothing makes me happier than to see a woman of color climbing the fashion ranks while dominating aspects of editorial, advertising campaigns & beauty contracts. joan is that chick & im still waiting to see when she’ll lands her first solo cover. with as in demand as she is now, that can’t be too far from now. joan slays everytime.

aline weber for numéro tokyo

through the lens of sebastian kim, aline weber appears for the june cover of numéro tokyo. represented by next models ny, weber made her runway debut back in 2005 at new york fashion week; where she walked for tommy hilfiger & jenni kayne. as a top model, aline is represented internationally by a number of agencies & continues to book campaigns, cover & editorials in her climb to the top. born in brazil, aline is one of the most versatile females in the game & im super juiced to see what else is in store for her feature editorial. while i could use a bit of text reconfiguration for the, ‘we love japan’ – numéro tokyo remains atop my list of favorite editorial publications. consistent with bookings throughout the year- aline has recently made an agency jump going from women model management to next models ny. now with agency mates with karlie kloss & arizona muse, next models ny has more than demonstrated their apt ability to make stars out of their girls- which is that much more exciting for an established chick like aline. seductive signature bone structure & all, aline is a star on the rise.

styled by barbara baumel, through the lens of david vasiljevic- arlenis sosa & gracie carvalho blaze the pages of vogue españa for the month of may. represented by marilyn management, arlenis sosa is a veteran in the fashion game & has had noted success since she was signed to her agency, on the spot, in 2008. rapidly, sosa began to book jobs & was featured alongside naomi campbell & sessilee lopez for the historic all black issue of italian vogue that same year. her extensive campaign work with lancome has afforded her the opportunity for global exposure & now she appears alongside brazilian beauty, gracie carvalho. also represented by marilyn management, carvalho signed to marilyn in 2008 after initially signing with way model management in 2007. making her editorial debut, carvalho first appeared in the pages of both brazilian vogue & brazilian elle for their september issues in 2008. steadily booking campaigns for the likes of DKNY & booking the best runway shows each season, gracie is another female to watch out for. both appear stunningly for the beachside spread accessorized by male models & animal printed designs by blumarine. flowered leis, bold colors & beautiful brown skin are splashed across this tropical spread & it is both stylistically & ethnically magical.  love this spread, entirely.

represented by IMG models, karolina kurkova appears more subdued for the pages of vogue italia. photographically interpreted by steven klein, the spread focuses on the bold contrast of black & white as kurkova appears decked in all black with a black lip to match. appropriately titled, “black”, i love that the spread took an unexpected direction. most times, im expecting unending forms of glamour, over the top styling & an extreme representation of beauty- so it is nice to switch things up & play things down in opposition. discovered by miuccia prada, kurkova continues to thrive in her ranks as a supermodel icon thanks to her consistent track record & non-stop bookings. a bit of 90′s grunge felt here as well.

shot by greg kadel for the may issue of vogue españa, isabeli fontana appears flawlessly for her feature editorial. as a visual extension of what what provided as a glimpse for the publication’s cover, fontana evokes romantic & earthy qualities; allowing natural poise & photographic performance to come through organically. clad in cavalli, pucci & chanel- the spread takes a greater focus on embroidered details, floral accents & feminine qualitites as the images translate a feel of bohemian poetry, visually. there is a funny line that fashion photography crosses- it’s a line that is crossed by varied publications, internationally. here, i appreciate & am greatly inspired by what was created visually. accented fittingly by some of the spring collections, trends pulsate with spreads like this & in these moments images become art. largely contributing to the artistic value of that transition is isabeli; represented by women model management, fontana is one of my favorites in fashion.

transformed for the pages of  numéro tokyo, brazilian model icon, gisele bündchen appears for the publication’s may issue, packed with prada pieces & wigs. playfully chic, gisele appears more camp than ever in this over the top editorial which sees her tapping into an unusually more transformative sense of self. from black curls to a blonde bob, gisele adds another notch of versatility to her belt while decked in marc jacobs, balenciaga & tom ford. platformed sneakers sent shock waves through the fashion industry & just about every magazine has photographed the prada spring collection with enthusiasm. i love that the spread allows another side of gisele to be see; though not her typical supermodel self, the spread is unexpected & thoughtfully executed. the simplified backdrop perfectly balances the outrageous styling. photographic credit to nino muñoz.

represented by women model management, isabeli fontana lands the may cover of vogue españa. greyscaled with shades of powder puff pink & maroon seen on the covers text, fontana appears in emilio pucci giving us a seductive backshot, through the lens of greg kadel. since her debut on the runway in 2009, isabeli has rapidly risen to the highest heights of high fashion as a cover girl & campaigned face while being runway ready every season just about. after having two kids & maintaining an outstanding presence in fashion, fontana ranks as the no. 17 female model icon while holding the rank for the 11th highest earning. isabeli is one of my favorite brazilian female models & im always thrilled to see her booking covers or campaigns. she remains one of the most consistent females photographically & on the runway. love this cover & she is killing that pucci.

through the lens of mark segal, vogue china favorite, liu wen appears for the may issue of chinese vogue. keeping it chic with western styling & cowgirl styling, liu appears flawlessly. what i love about the spread is the opportunity taken to showcase liu’s versatility through another angle of design. while i don’t particularly favor western themed, well, anything- i do value model versatility above all. liu can also be seen in the spring campaigns for the gap, estée lauder & cK by calvin klein. represented marilyn model management, liu wen is one of china’s biggest & baddest female models of the current time.
