fall collezioni, milan: etro

a combination of interesting concepts & fascinating palette, the etro FW11 collection presented in milan was one of creative interpretation. while elements of beauty were seen; an opposition of what we define as beauty, commercially, was seen. as plaid, fur & bold tones clashed creatively & beautifully as clean lines & use of metallics was seen. models walked the runway with orange eyeshadow & a simplistic face. neutrals were added to beautiful print as glossed pants provided balance to voluminous sleeves of fur,  as well as fringe & sheer textile. an overall cohesive collection, the large combination of design elements is thoughtfully fused perfectly. while many other design collections would seem chaotic, the etro label manages to present a clean set of design with wildly imaginative pieces in sleek, stylish form. an incredible job done by etro this season, they pushed the envelope with this collection this season. even in trend, this collection manages to shine outstandingly.

elisa sednaoui for giorgio armani, spring

represented by IMG models, elisa sednaoui appears for the giorgio armani summer/spring 2011 campaign, through the lens of nick knight. highlighting a wardrobe slightly in motion, along with beautiful lighting; i find that most anything nick knight creates is stunning. as for this collection, during spring show season i reviewed it to a less than spectacular rating, overall. but here the collection actually transforms & exudes more of the armani essence then during the actual runway show. the clothes look beautiful & have made me second guess my judgement of the poorly produced runway show in milan. well done.

spring collezioni: just cavalli, milan

as the moderately priced collection created by roberto cavalli, the just cavalli collection embodies the same spirit & dramatized glamour of it’s mother label. well known for their extravagant use of animal print, avoiding any form of expectancy, the just cavalli collection takes the opportunity to conceptualize floral designs for the SS11 season in this set this season. in addition, elements of western design are seen at the collections opening while liquified prints with slight use of sheer are seen towards the mid-section of the spring set. after sailing through sheer & floral, the collection dips into an air of modesty as soft off whites are seen & soon those off whites become tribal influenced prints. at the close of the collection, we see the signature animal prints that have attributed to the house of cavalli’s success as a mainstay in fashion. overall, the just cavalli collection, the house of cavalli in general, is about a feeling; a perception of what glamour & femininity are defined as. showcased on a sparkling lacquered runway, the set achieves it’s goal of extending a wild sensibility to the concept of prints- well executed.

menswear collections: missioni, spring

again, showcasing their design signature of knits & eclectic use of color, the summer/spring menswear collection for the 2011 show season was presented through off the runway collection images. not much we haven’t seen before is showcased through the collections designs, but still- i find that with a brand like missoni, its almost expected. the collection knits are shown through cardigans, sweater vests & even in the collections socks. i find the overuse of pattern in knits charming in a quirky sort of way- its almost presented with an air of geek chic. though print is capitalized upon in the set, variation is presented as well.

patrick kafka for class roberto cavalli


represented by major model management, patrick kafka appears for the SS10 class roberto cavalli ad campaign. shot by giampaolo sgura, egle tvirbutaite of elite model management is also enlisted for the season set. fashion editing & styling was done by marie-amelie sauve & seen is perfect execution of italian chic. i love the focus on the design details & accessories of the collection. i love that the texture of patrick’s suit is even showcased. keep an eye on patrick, he’s a model on the rise & is seen frequently in editorial as well as on the runway. landing campaigns is the next step & after that, supermodel status isn’t that far off. the class roberto cavalli collection was established in 2000 & is a division of the cavalli empire which includes expansion into larger branding arenas including but not limited to night clubs, hotels, fragrance & home decor.

fall menswear, presentation: trussardi 1911

presented off the runway was the trussardi 1911 collection, which is currently creatively directed by milan vukmirovic. the styling & overall theme for the fall menswear set is very chic, very italian- we see a lot of grey & black with hints of red. wool coats were matched to assorted plaids & holiday prints; while bags & footwear also made a statement. slick style & refined tailoring are well executed elements of the trussardi brand & this seasons collection shines, even without a runway reputation. i love the belted leather coat in the collection as well.
