editorialesque » kate moss for vogue japan

british supermodel icon, kate moss appears editorially for the may issue of vogue japan. styled by george cortina, with hair & make-up by paul hanlon & charlotte tibury, kate appears sophisticated in spring couture that is photographed with a mysterious edge. shot by mert & marcus, the evolution of kate moss is one interesting complexities & unexpected turns. kate moss ushered in a new generation of supermodels during the grunge era, which resulted in a modeling shift. standards became adjusted & desired looks dipped from commercial & jaw dropping beauty to ultra-thin, waif models that were looked at as transformative figures rather than individuals with natural beauty. i had the chance to see a biographical documentary on kate moss which addressed her rise to fame & time-lined how massive her influence has spread through the fashion industry since her debut on the scene in the 90′s. notorious for measuring up under industry standards standing five feet, seven inches; kate is one of few females that has been able to surpass barriers put in place by the fashion industry. one of those barriers in modeling is an expiration date, for many years it was expected that past a certain age, models should look into ‘career alternatives’ & are often times encouraged to consider, ‘life after modeling’. kate moss has spun her image into a successful presence in fashion through design work with top shop & has even designed handbags for longchamp. still a star in today’s competitive industry, kate continues to land covers, campaigns & blaze the runways occasionally- she ranks as fashion’s no. 2 icon next to gisele & ranks as fashion’s third highest earning. represented by IMG, kate is seen slightly darker, an aspect that adds dimension to the editorial & draws relativity to her grunge era entrance into modeling. kate moss is what female models aspire to become.

kate moss for vogue japan

in an effort to create a more clarified branding presence, vogue nippon has decided to swap titles to vogue japan. nippon (日本国) is the native term for japan & is affectionately used to refer to the land of the rising sun. the change is quite the conversation piece given the recent conditions of  the japanese public, in light of their natural disaster. represented by IMG, supermodel icon kate moss appears on the publications beautiful may issue, through the lens of mert + marcus. soft & feminine, accented by a powerful statement lip- kate appears flawlessly & im sure that her feature editorial will deliver on the same level. known for having more polished & clean covers, vogue japan is one of my favorite publications to watch, as my own attraction to aesthetics mirror their own. im always stunned when kate graces a cover, so this time is no different. mert + marcus continue to slay the fashion photography scene, locking it down from every angle imaginable. kate is a fuckn star.

rosie huntington-whiteley for vogue uk

represented by rosie huntington-whiteley has wasted no time soaking up the spotlight after being announced as a victoria’s secret angel alongside chanel iman & candice swaenpoel. glamed up in gucci, rosie appears perfectly for the march cover of british vogue. shot by mert + marcus, rosie’s signature pout is glossed red for the cover as we see the wind machine in full swing. represented by women model management, rosie hails from the united kingdom & it’s dope to see her representing for the brits on their division of vogue. in 2009, rosie was awarded as model of the year at the elle style awards & has since been signed on to replace megan fox in the tranformer trilogy. as a successfully recognized angel for victoria’s secret, rosie continues to rise as a star in fashion landing campaigns & covers alike. i love this cover, completely.

lea t. + kate moss for love, the androgyny issue

for their debut androgyny issue, transexual model lea t. appears in a shockingly unexpected liplock with supermodel icon kate moss. shot by mert & marcus, love, as a fashion publication, continues to push the creative limitations & expectations of a normal fashion publication. as a dominant force in fashion, through styling, katie grand proves that her reign as one of the industries greatest heavyweights is not to be slept on. kate channels a more masculine edge, while lea t. thrives in givenchy aesthetics of bleached brows & a heavily shadowed eye. i love the fearlessness represented at love & find myself standing in applause of every issue, consistently. im very excited to see what has been put together for this issue & respect katie grand, love’s editor-in-chief, as a true creative & pioneer, not just as a stylist, but as someone with a sizable fashion impact.
