rosie huntington-whiteley for vogue germany

represented by women model management, rosie huntington-whitely has been seen everywhere from victoria’s secret to her co-starring role in transformers. through the lens of alexi lubormirski, rosie lands a multi-cover november feature for the magazine’s november issue. while im not entirely sure how these covers will be distributed, whether they will issue special subscriber’s covers much like harper’s bazaar, or whether they will issue all three as newstand editions. while one more cover within the set remains to be seen, i have seen a low-res preview & all three are stunning. these two covers, i feel, more receptive too in terms of aesthetic beauty. i love full features on models & rosie has a winning combination. while her lips appear slightly different than the last time i seen them- i applaud the styling of jewelery & the cosmetics theme. it’s not too much, rather, just enough. as far as i have seen, rosie kills just about every cover she books so i am not surprised that they would release multiple covers. consistent delivery through performance, rosie is a star.

karmen pedaru for numéro

stunningly dark, karmen pedaru of ford models appears for issue 127 of numero thorugh the lens of greg kadel. i love when publications do a gold foiled masthead against a darkened cover shot. karmen has this heavy presence that is so stunning, she is the perfect girl for this cover, considering the styling elements. you may have recognized her through the gucci campaigns & most recently advertising for gucci’s cruise 2012 collection has surfaced in which pedaru is the star. while i love more than one fashion publication, i must say- numéro has some of the greatest covers & best editorial content. no shade to the vogue’s across the globe, but conde nast has a deeper foundation & much more established base as a commercial publication, which means they play the field with actresses & such. with numéro, there is a larger aspect of high end fashion as art that i feel coming through, consistently. recently, i took to the fashion forums & looked at numéro’s cover archive- in which is was surprised at how beautiful each cover was. cover shots are a major aspect of fashion publications because that basically the one shot to pull in consumers. numéro does it for me everytime, as they have so greatly demonstrated here. & let’s get into the ungaro torso/neck accessorie. sickening.

editorialesque » herieth paul for elle

animalistic through photographic presence & kate lanphear’s styling, herieth paul appears through the lens of KT auleta for elle magazine’s september issue. represented by women model management, herieth is of the new school of female models that channels greater bodily edge. in that, i mean she fits the bill for more experimental editorial. entereing the model realm in june of 2010, herieth originally made her debut with long hair & was re-introduced that december with a bold, bald new do. after her folicule reworking, herieth gained visibility rapidly. you might recognize her pretty little mug from her editorial bookings for black book, i-D, dazed & confused, as well as her vogue italia spread which was shot by steven meisel. teaming with meisel yet again, herieth was one of the many edgy faces to appear for the cK one fragrance campaign & followed that up with a campaign booking for diesel that same season. landing her first solo cover july of this year; there appears to be no end in sight for this tanzanian’s high fashion take over. im anticipating an increase in her model visibility for show season; as her looks fit the bill for more of the innovative labels. in her elle spread, i love the idea of fur in the desert- it’s unexpected.

iris strubegger for vogue germany, september

shot by alex lubomirski, iris strubegger of women model management sets the cover of german vogue on fire for the month of september. stunningly opulent with a commanding presence- the cover is beautifully shot & glamorously styled. as one of my favorites, iris represents for austrians in high fashion & is a standout amongst the many females on & off the runway. seen last season for the spring givenchy campaign, iris is a cover girl regular & is one of my favorite chicks for her versatility & blank canvas of features. from ultra feminine to hard edged masculine- iris slays from every angle & bends genders like a pro. strubegger represents the new crop of female models that banks on more of an interesting look rather than a commercial, polished look. more than thrilled to see her grace the vogue german september cover & am even more juiced to see how hard she goes for her feature editorial. love the cover, love iris, the make-up, the dress- everything. superb cover.

ming xi for vogue china

appearing through the lens of daniel jackson, ming xi of elite models lands her second cover & first solo cover for vogue china, for the month of august. vogue china has had an incredibly interesting pattern & wining streak with covers & editorials for the past year in my book. while no publication is perfect through & through, the cover of this issue is slightly off but the editorial content delivers, where the cover lacks. commercially clean, the cover is a clear indication of what sells in china- polished females & fun fashion. styled by tiina laakkonen, the cover proves to be a powerful addition to ming growing portfolio of ad campaigns, covers & editorial spreads. chinese herself, ming is a favored female among chinese publications.

daria strokous for vogue russia

represented by women model management, daria graces has had a consistent string of recent hits which have earned her a no. 19 ranking within the top 50 female model ranking in fashion. shot by mariano vivanco, you may recognize daria from her runway rampage- as she walked the couture shows for dior, valentino, alais, elie saab & giambattista valli. strongly visible in all aspects of high end fashion, aside from landing this august cover, daria graces W korea’s august cover & has booked the FW11 jil sander campaign; a return for strokous considering that she also booked the sander label’s spring campaing. the cover shot is polished & refined, vivianco hits his mark especially well as the russian model sits poised. as a slight indication of what may be revealed behind the cover, the cosmetic elements channel a mod, twiggy vibe. i like the dark nails & the heavy liner but have never been a fan of flat hair. originally signed to IMG in 2007, daria is seemingly hitting her stride which can see her star rising for the upcoming show season. while not a completely outstanding face amidst the dozens of girls who look similar to her- all it takes is a campaign & a mean ass runway walk to take the spot. real shit, after being shot by steven meisel & becoming the face of prada, what else is really left?  put this one on your radar & we’ll find out.

editorialesque » willy cartier for schön

represented by success models paris, willy cartier appears editorially for schön magazine. shot in black & white the dark angel themed editorial is brought to life thanks in part to the styling of olo dressing, through the lens of karel losenicky. shot for issue no. 11, you might recognize willy for his presence at the house of givenchy. named one of the illustrious tisci tribe, which is basically a group of individuals hand selected by riccardo tisci to do everything from campaigns to runway, look book images & editorials associated with the house, cartier is also noted as a dancer. of the new school, willy represents this new form of androgyny that agencies & clients alike have favored in the last five years. while i could’ve been more inspired with a greater emphasis on style, im also glad to see willy creating a larger presence on the international editorial circuit. of french nationality, cartier has been seen for few campaigns along with a slew of editorial spots ranging from numéro for GQ style germany.

editorialesque » snejana onopka for vogue japan

classical chic is seen for the pages of vogue japan’s june issue, which sees snejana onopka through the lens of glen luchford. styled by anastasia barbieri, with hair & make-up by marc lopez & inge grognard; the spread is an inspiring set of black & white fashion pieces with incredible lighting. polished to perfection, there is something so beautiful about this ‘reluctant mistress’ spread. im leaning towards the fact that the combined elements of photography & style are fused incredibly well. there is such a strong message of sophistication, in the clothes that are pulled, in the way the make-up is applied, subtle & still a perfect accentuation. i live & love these forms of glamour that have been greatly represented here. i applaud all parties who contributed to the birth of this spread. inspired, tremendously by how sharp & chic this has been produced. represented by silent models, snejana hails from the ukraine & can be recognized from her recent vogue paris features & campaign spots with both etro & emillio pucci eyewear. obsessed with these aesthetics, for real.

daphne groeneveld for numéro

represented by supreme models, daphne groeneveld lands her third cover, this time for numéro. shot for the publication’s june issue, groeneveld is a representation of the fashion industries obsession with youth. at the age of 16, daphne has appeared for campaigns with givenchy & miu miu, blazed the runway in new york, london, paris & milan while nabbing covers for vogue paris & i-D in the process. cast for the upcoming FW12 louis vuitton campaign, there seem to be no planned stops for netherlands native, as show season rapidly approaches with each passing month. shot in black & white, daphne appears beautifully with racoon eyes as the spring trend of white is seen clearly represented. daphne is a model to know.

editorialesque » robin ahrens for wonderland

classical styling, dramatic light- two aspects of editorial that i live & love. wonderland magazine affords john balsom the photographic opportunity to capture robin ahrens of ford models europe to be seen in this trousers & trainers spread. classically styled by way perry, i love the casual aspects of style that are represented & love how artistically these styles are represented. i’ve said it more than once here, allow me to reiterate; with male editorial there is a seemingly larger opportunity to use greater forms of experimentation. because the design formatting of most menswear remains untouched & unchanged from season to season, use of light, placement of props & angles all make a world of a difference, editorially. these aspects that are represented each month in a number of publications remind us that fashion holds a large stage for some of the greatest artists expressions in the world. beyonce clothes or models, fashion is about capturing a moment- whether that’s a moment of trend or beauty. this spread adds dimension to style minimalism. superb lighting, in love with this.
