editorialesque » jerry fu + philip huang for numéro homme china

for the pages of numéro homme china, jerry fu of major models is joined by philip huang of DNA models for this he & his themed editorial. vibrant colors & a poolside backdrop are seen through the lens of mei yuan as the spread is seemingly based on a gay couple. i love that numéro homme china is taking a creative approach at representing gay couples, being that many publications almost never represent male/male couples. styled by joseph carle, jerry & philip are seen with matching prada outfits & fedora caps as prints, patterns & color contrasts take center stage of the editorial. everything down to the furnishings appear as complimentary to the bold palette seen in the selected pieces & photographically, i love this editorial. numéro homme china is flourishing incredibly well from creative aspects to model castings in a short amount of time. colorfully inspiring.

editorialesque » marlon teixeira for gq style china

through the lens of dusan reljin, marlon teixeira appears for the SS11 issue of GQ style china. styled by sean spellman, the denim doused editorial spread showcases on teixeira is raw form- masculinity enhanced. as a lover of black & white photography, i love the aged feel that this spread gives off & i love how well that fits alongside the denim pieces that were selected. high end editorial is all about focusing elements of photography & correctly aligning those elements with style quality- both of which are greatly represented here. represented by wilhelmina models, marlon is of brazilian ethnicity & is a stand out in this new age of male modeling. physically, marlon’s facial features tap into the model market of ‘boyish features’ while his body is an ode to classic masculinity- a perfect combination it seems. marlon’s been seen everywhere from campaign’s with armani to the cover of vanity teen- versatility is one skill he has possessed since he began modeling in 2008.

editorialesque » america the beautiful by vogue

through the lens of craig mcdean, american vogue shows their patriotic side for their june issue; as tonne goodman styles this all-american themed editorial. american female models, karlie kloss & arizona muse of next models ny are joined by brazilian female models isabeli fontana & raquel zimmerman as british red-head model icon, karen elson also joins the cast. represented by women model management, karen elson is an american vogue favorite while isabeli graces the june cover of french vogue. represented by DNA models, raquel zimmermann is also a favorite of american vogue & is seen splashed across this month’s issue in the scuba-styled section of the spread. i love the feel of casual & seemingly undone glamour that is felt; though casual the spread is still very glamourous & thoughtfully executed. while i feel as though the american theme could’ve been more sharp in terms of location, had an outdoor location be considered; i love the aspects of wilderness that are added to the spreads studio setting. from the aged wood, to the leaves on the studio ground- this is a great concept that was well produced & the girls shine like stars. though not particularly groundbreaking, i admire the preservation of classic american style. great set of girls, but why not do an all-american model cast? & where’s joan? we could use some color.

editorialesque » jimmy kim for numéro homme china

with asian model presence increasing, the luxury demand from sales figures to fashion publications in asia are being felt stronger than ever before. creatively, as well as literally, chinese style publications are coming out swinging for the SS11 season- as seen here for numero homme china. styled by joseph carle, shot by mei yuan gui, jimmy kim appears as an editorial fisherman. through thoughtful execution, kim appears surprisingly masculine while clad in silk scarves, transparent overalls & jewel toned blazers. as one of the strongest debut issues, im incredibly impressed at how quickly & well numéro homme china has emerged. being that many of the male models are still, exclusively, represented in china- it will be interesting to see how well each model, male & female will fare in the revolving door of high fashion. definitely a major time for diversity in high fashion & an exciting time for us who have been anticipating the change. great spread, very well produced.

editorialesque » edita vilkeviciute for numéro

looking more like an artists exhibit than a fashion editorial, numéro continues to raise the bar of high end editorial. shot by camilla akrans, i am always imaginatively impressed by the photographic presence of edita- she remains one of my favorite females & her features are stunning. represented by DNA, edita can also be recognized for her spring campaign with calvin klein, in which she appears for the labels swimwear & white label collection. seen for campaign spots with blumarine & H&M, edita ranks as fashion’s no. 18 female model while locking down the no. 11 rank for sexiest. whether a cover or editorial spread, edita is always stunning & here we see that with clear indication. i love the use of color & the aesthetic of camilla akrans is a fitting form of perfection along with edita’s photographic poise. of lithuanian nationality, edita killed this spread & i am once more inspired. the bleached brow, the over extension of the cat eye- executed perfectly with a modern, pop-art twitst.

editorialesque » du juan for vogue china

styled by akari endo-gaut of the frank reps creative agency, benny horne photographed chinese female model, du juan for the pages of vogue china. shot for the publication’s may issue, the spread you see here was styled entirely from pieces sold at H&M. as a consumer, i never allow price point to dictate style or limit what i see as wearable; here that example is brought to life in the most stylish of ways. the styling of akari endo gaut has been seen in the pages of numero tokyo, l’officiel, dazed & confused & VMAN. on the runway, akari’s stylistic perspective has contributed to the shows of TSE & pamela love. her keen sensibility for pairing & contrasting styles, textures & compiling the best style elements for a wide range of looks is mindfully showcased through each of her bookings & here that talent shines even brighter. from the accessories to the use of color, i love this spread & pull tremendous inspiration from this set. represented by IMG, du juan has appeared for campaigns with david yurman & has become a regular in the pages of both american vogue & vogue china.

editorialesque » parker gregory for hercules

represented by click models, parker gregory appears handsomely for the pages of hercules magazine. the spanish based men’s style publication booked parker to be photographed through the lens giampaolo sgura while styled by miguel arnau for their spring/summer issue. though the spread also features male model, diego fragoso, i felt that parker deserved a bit more of indvidualized shine this go ’round. with a near perfect physique & an all-american look, parker has been seen everywhere from campaigns with nautica & armani to editorial bookings for esquire GQ & GQ. though flying a bit more under the radar, parker graced the cover of hercules for their spring cover series & is definitely one male model i strive to present on a larger digital platform. i love the nautical theme of the spread & love the casual feel of this style direction.

editorialesque » easy elegance by details

what yo’ name iz? danny schwarz, garrett neff, tyler riggs, vincent lacrocq, vladimir ivanov

throughout my much of my high school life, i was heavily into the styling of details magazine; in an effort to discover more of my true self & in turn, my true style. i’ve always had a preference for personal appearance & really view personal style as a form of art unto itself. accepting a distinction of what i had liked & prefered versus what the other kids were wearing was a process of growth & timeless inspiration. when looking at this editorial, i feel like im back in those days. at that time, i was deciding what i liked & began to really discover my own path of individuality looking for ways to inject my own style into everything i was doing, from the way i spoke, who i was around- even down to my penmanship, my greater goal in life has always been to represent myself as accurately as possible. over time that accuracy & intellectual process has become more natural & more like a second nature to me- it’s now a process that people around me understand & beyond that they respect. this editorial is a clean cut homage to the style direction that i’ve become familiarized with most. clean style, sharp grooming & timeless pieces that stand alone from season to season while not opposing but not bowing to the unforgiving ways of the seasonal trend. through the lens of robbie fimano, the impeccable styling of benjamin sturgill is translated through clean style, smart tailoring & modernized classics in the form of blazers, denim & dress shoes. though simple, i feel that a tremendous amount of style is both seen & felt in this spread. im intensely inspired & understand that there is great value in the details. whether the cut of the jean, the length of danny’s hair, the relaxed fit of the a denim jacket or the jawline on neff- style is everywhere.

editorialesque » arlenis sosa + gracie carvalho for vogue españa

styled by barbara baumel, through the lens of david vasiljevic- arlenis sosa & gracie carvalho blaze the pages of vogue españa for the month of may. represented by marilyn management, arlenis sosa is a veteran in the fashion game & has had noted success since she was signed to her agency, on the spot, in 2008. rapidly, sosa began to book jobs & was featured alongside naomi campbell & sessilee lopez for the historic all black issue of italian vogue that same year. her extensive campaign work with lancome has afforded her the opportunity for global exposure & now she appears alongside brazilian beauty, gracie carvalho. also represented by marilyn management, carvalho signed to marilyn in 2008 after initially signing with way model management in 2007. making her editorial debut, carvalho first appeared in the pages of both brazilian vogue & brazilian elle for their september issues in 2008. steadily booking campaigns for the likes of DKNY & booking the best runway shows each season, gracie is another female to watch out for. both appear stunningly for the beachside spread accessorized by male models & animal printed designs by blumarine. flowered leis, bold colors & beautiful brown skin are splashed across this tropical spread & it is both stylistically & ethnically magical.  love this spread, entirely.

editorialesque » isabeli fontana for vogue españa

shot by greg kadel for the may issue of vogue españa, isabeli fontana appears flawlessly for her feature editorial. as a visual extension of what what provided as a glimpse for the publication’s cover, fontana evokes romantic & earthy qualities; allowing natural poise & photographic performance to come through organically. clad in cavalli, pucci & chanel- the spread takes a greater focus on embroidered details, floral accents & feminine qualitites as the images translate a feel of bohemian poetry, visually. there is a funny line that fashion photography crosses- it’s a line that is crossed by varied publications, internationally. here, i appreciate & am greatly inspired by what was created visually. accented fittingly by some of the spring collections, trends pulsate with spreads like this & in these moments images become art. largely contributing to the artistic value of that transition is isabeli; represented by women model management, fontana is one of my favorites in fashion.
