styled by nicolette santoro, raquel zimmermann of DNA models appears stunningly through the lens of willy vanderperre for the august issue of vogue china. in discussing the level of consistency shown with vogue china, this spread is a prime example of that. when reviewing editorial i look for quality of grooming, cohesion of theme & model casting. photographic talent is a given, because that ultimately makes or breaks a photographic spread. i love the work of willy vanderperre & always admire his showcase of darker elements of glamour through polished direction. a strong fusion of classical & progressive design aspects, python is a large trend for the fall & here it is beautifully photographed. as rebellious & modern as the styling pieces are- i love how strict raquel appears. the balance of classic & modern is done perfectly- it’s all very inspiring.

through the lens of david sims, raquel zimmerman  of DNA appears darkly chic for the pages of vogue paris, for the publication’s june issue. styled in all black by beat bollinger, i love how movement was captured & am tremendously inspired by the use of both black & white, as well as colored photography. as one of my favorite editorial female models, raquel has mastered the art of modeling from a super extension. while some of the pieces throughout the editorial are much more minimal, stylistically, movement of the clothes & how it’s captured on film are what make this spread special. the studio backdrop seemingly compliments the simplicity of the clothes as raquel demonstrates true model versatility, transforming from one frame to the next, one page to the next. incredible styling & beautifully executed, this is editorial i love to see.

through the lens of craig mcdean, american vogue shows their patriotic side for their june issue; as tonne goodman styles this all-american themed editorial. american female models, karlie kloss & arizona muse of next models ny are joined by brazilian female models isabeli fontana & raquel zimmerman as british red-head model icon, karen elson also joins the cast. represented by women model management, karen elson is an american vogue favorite while isabeli graces the june cover of french vogue. represented by DNA models, raquel zimmermann is also a favorite of american vogue & is seen splashed across this month’s issue in the scuba-styled section of the spread. i love the feel of casual & seemingly undone glamour that is felt; though casual the spread is still very glamourous & thoughtfully executed. while i feel as though the american theme could’ve been more sharp in terms of location, had an outdoor location be considered; i love the aspects of wilderness that are added to the spreads studio setting. from the aged wood, to the leaves on the studio ground- this is a great concept that was well produced & the girls shine like stars. though not particularly groundbreaking, i admire the preservation of classic american style. great set of girls, but why not do an all-american model cast? & where’s joan? we could use some color.

represented by DNA models, raquel zimmermann appears alongside freja beha erichsen of IMG & model icon, kristen mcmenamy for the spring 2011 louis vuitton campaign. accurately capturing the essence of the collection, the oriental themed collection is perfectly matched to a chinese inspired campaign concept. shot by steven meisel, the images are a true association with the spring collection. though i didnt favor too much the collection, i admire the consistency in translation from runway to advertising. a great cast of female talent & im hoping to see more images from this campaign. meisel always delivers.

represented by DNA models, raquel zimmerman appears for the december issue of vogue. shot by david sims, we see zimmermann tranformed into a red head, parting ways with her signature blonde. complimenting the red is raquel’s seemingly porcelain complexion. the work of david sims is always flawless; you’ve seen his aesthetic through this photographic work for major brands including zara, lanvin for H&M, V, french vogue, calvin klein, longchamp, valentino, uniqlo, YSL & sportmax over the past year. fashion editing for this spread was done by camilla nickerson; sleek design lines & sharp tailoring are all over this spread.

raquel zimmermann + nikola jovanovic for gucci, cruise

raquel zimmermann & nikola jovanovic appear for the pre-season gucci cruise collection for 2011. for those unaware, cruise & resort collections are created for consumers during the off season of our regular summer/spring & fall/winter wardrobe shifts; for those who may be vacationing or looking for new threads in between seasons, that’s the purpose of the cruise or resort collection. as a dominant force in fashion & commercial high-end luxury merchandise, frida giannini is the current creative director of the house of gucci & has done a superb job at commercializing the label even further into the future. nylon dipped & printed trench coats, sunglasses, handbags, army fatigue leopard print & satin jumpsuits all make an appearance in the campaign images, as do last season’s campaign. shot by mert + marcus, im beyond impressed with the concept of using the gucci billboards as a prop & ultimately a set backdrop. represented by DNA models, raquel has appeared as a gucci girl for the past five seasons. as her fall co-star returns alongside her, nikola is represnted by ford models & ranks as fashion’s no. 15 male model. gucci is killing it completely in every way; in many ways they’ve reintroduced the label to a round & brown design aesthetic that taps into to a larger audience that values the heritage & fashion legacy of the house.

already progressing to their october release while other publications begin to reveal their september covers, vogue nippon casts raquel zimmermann of DNA model management for their october issue. clad in christian dior, the cover reads ‘love & romance’ as we see raquel in what seems to be a partial dance move. shot by inez + vinoodh, im sure that the accompanying editorial spread will be nothing less than amazing & stunningly chic. it’s a bit of a text overload, but regardless- we love raquel.

raquel zimmermann + nikola jovanovic for gucci, fall


reresented by DNA models, raquel zimmermann follows up the pre-fall campaign images shot with joan smalls with these FW10 campaign images alongside nikola jovanovic of ford, shot by mert + marcus, the campaign focuses on the rich brown tones most commonly associated with the fall fashion season, as well as the gucci heritage. we see a reappearance of those geometric chairs in gold this season & of course ryan kennedy & natasha poly are swapped for raquel & nikola. over all, mert + marcus are well aware of how to make the gucci branding image shine a little brighter- the images capture movement & the collection with an elevated sense of style & chic. the full scope of the collection is displayed very well for this season.

joan smalls + raquel zimmermann for gucci, pre-fall


represented by IMG models joan smalls makes a major high fashion leap, landing campaign promotional images for gucci’s pre-fall collection. alongside smalls is veteran gucci girl raquel zimmermann of  DNA. becoming a gucci girl is by far one of the most iconic bookings a model could make in her career & climb to the top. both females showcase high end appeal while showcasing completely sickening bone structure. i am in love with the images & am completely happy for joan. wherever you are girl, we sitting right here rooting & waiting for you to continue to break barriers as a female of color. the images, stylistically represent much of what has become iconic for the house of gucci. a job very well done for the campaign spot, especially considering that this is just for the pre-season. this could very well be my favorite campaign this year. joan is a bad ass bitch!
