spring collections: burberry prorsum, london
after three seasons of solidifying the respect felt towards the heritage of the burberry label, christopher bailey allows the brand to enter even further into the future. bursts of pastel contrasts came screaming down the runway amidst phenomenally progressive elements adapted to the labels signature trench coats. encapsulating trend seen in both new york & previous collections shown in london; the SS11 set hosts sleek & chic details like diamond quilted leather & shell structured coats. while coats are a major staple for the london based luxury label; a perfect culmination of classic & modern was seen in each design. animal skin coats including snakeskin coats & leopard print dresses all rattled the cage of the iconic fashion house. without a doubt, burberry continues to dominate in an upward motion throughout all of fashion. amazingly progressive use of concepts for the coats & strikingly stylish use of color & contrast. amazing, amazing, amazing. one of my all time favorite collections from burberry, incredibly inspiring. this is what fashion is all about! applause, standing ovation- all that shit.

spring collections: christian siriano, new york
with sessilee lopez of major models opening, the christian siriano spring collection takes on a tribal, safarian feel with injections of upper class sophistication. glamourous sheers are matched to siriano’s affinity for constructed drama. while the opening sequence of looks plays on more tamed design concepts, at the close of the collection the gowns appear on fire with ruffles rising from the ground like flames. no doubt, each season, siriano proves that of the project runway contestants he has the most potential to successfully transcend reality tv & land a spot in the high end fashion market. with his collaborative work with payless, he has definitely earned & utilized his commercial exposure. while his television persona is just as famous as his developing style signature, i am pleased with this collection overall.

spring collections: organic by john patrick, new york
as a leader for eco-friendly fashion, john patrick presents his SS11 womenswear collection. mirroring the collections natural concepts, the palette is kept simple & all the more chic appearing in oatmeal, cotton white, beige & taupe with the additions of smoked grey & dulled navy. i love the casual feel of the collection pieces & feel a sense of freedom in this collections designs. the use of sheer is very chic & the slouchy fits of the collection will definitely be a selling point for consumers. boyfriend blazers & floral printed dresses were all created for the spring collection, which is constructed of organic materials. while respecting the environment, who wouldn’t with these stylish spring option. an inspiring set, organic & completely chic.
