iris is represented by supreme model management. here she was photographed by patrick demarchelier for the july issue of vogue. though an old image, i love it. her short hair completely reintroduced her to the modeling world. this season, iris was enlisted for campaigns with valentino & givenchy. nonetheless a dope shot, as is much of demarchelier’s work. frequently shooting editorially for vogue, patrick has shot campaigns for blumarine & express this season. the above seen image is a small piece of his amazing porfolio. hair & make-up in the above shot of iris by didier malige & aaron de mey. keep an eye out for your girl on the runway, look out for more demarchelier photo credits.

iris is represented by supreme model management. in addition to this campaign, iris was also used for the fall ad campaign for givenchy accessories & womenswear. her sexually androgynous look sets her apart from other classic beauties in the modeling industry today. editorially fit for a wide range of fashion publications, iris can also be seen on the september issue of vogue nippon. i love the dark edge that she brings to this ad campaign- she has a strong photographic presence & i think her image helps re-direct the valentino brand into the future. campaign images by mert alas + marcus piggott. i had posted images of this campaign previously, this shot has been appearing in fashion publications more recently.

during couture season, some are so affixiated on the beautiful clothes that often times other details are overlooked. i have to admit, i did forget about the footwear- i mean, how could i? its part of the combining elements that complete a look. the cut provided images seen here from the following designers- im gonna list them in order from the top, for those who can’t identify the shoes by just looking at them: givenchy, christian dior, chanel, armani, gaultier, elie saab & valentino. its all about the details & you never want to skip the attention to details when regarding footwear. shoes can ultimately make or break an outfit.
finally, the valentino creative team seperates themselves from the old valentino design aesthetic. i love the usage of lace & the head pieces. totally chic. it seems to be a trend this season in couture, using sheer materials & exposing undergarments. this collection for me was completely beautiful, the dark color palette brought out another side of valentino, a new era for the brand & legendary italian fashion house. good shit, for real. im extremely impressed.

since news of the filed petition of christian lacroix, we’ve all been waiting to see if a couture collection would see the light of day. its no news to any of us that out economy is basically in shambles at the moment, but some may be surprised to discover something very unlikely; something unseen, something totally unexpected. couture sales are up! yes, believe it or not they are. with the economy in the shape that it is, its hard to believe that some fashion die hards are droppin dime on dresses the price of cadillac escalades- however, this is still very much the case. though here in america we may not be flocking to the couture boutiques or making calls to put in our orders but many foreign countries are still able to afford that luxury. when news broke of the financial crisis over at lacroix orders began to pour in. which, in this case, is understandable. you dont know what you have until its gone & god forbid that lacroix go down in flames as the last couture house standing simply because it cant turn profit. everyone wants a piece of greatness, especially if it is the last.
