mina + jakob for gf by gianfranco ferré

mina cvetkovic of next company vienna & jakob wiechmann of ford models new york appeared for the spring GF by gianfranco ferre ad campaign. shot by emilio tini, the campaign makes an attempt to use glitter in a different way & instead of creatively showcasing it; it actually seems like a mess. in most cases, campaigns allow models to be showcased on a much more broad platform & tossed glitter covering their faces defeats the purpose. i love the use of glitter when i can see the models & their faces; but i think the direction of the campaign could’ve been better directed & executed. i live & love the black & white shots.

digital identity: nelson nieves

nelson nieves has appeared here for readers a few times before. shot by dave fothergill & represented by red model management, nelson appears in nothing by his 2(x)ist underswear in this latest set of test shoot images. since my discovery of nelson, i’ve loved his look & more ethnic appeal in the fashion market. i always feel like tattoos add too large an element of individuality. it really affects the models level of versatility. the job of a model is to conform & act as a vehicle for a vision & idea of beauty. with tattoos, i feel, you may become typecast for a certain body of model work. & i would think that a models aspiration would include dreams of mass popularity in all markets. with that said, todays new age model standards are changing the game in many forms. the tattoos give models an edge; but will that edge prove worthy of career longevity?

jamie dornan + eva mendes for calvin klein jeans, spring

jamie dornan returns with eva mendes for the calvin klein jeans spring campaign. the two made quite a splash with their first campaign last season & it proved worthy to the klein label, as these images are a next level version of what we seen previously. actress, eva mendez is causing quite a stir within the fashion publication realm as well. she will appear on the coming issue of vogue germany for the month of february. eva is the third female to historically land a calvin klein campaign for a consecutive season. she has now joined the ranks of other iconic females who’ve appeared for the american brand including brooke shields & the legendary kate moss. & she’s latina! shot by steven klein, the sexuality displayed here is presented in fair form & good taste. the two also return for the calvin klein body campaign this season as well.

editorialesque » ivancic via vukmirovic gets volcanic

milan vukmirovic shoots roman ivancic, editorially, for the january issue of l’officiel hommes china. i love the spread & the darker editorial direction seen throughout the issue & love the experimental styling as well. more male fashion publications are taking a different approach to imagery. i love the darker edge & can always get with experimentation editorially, but i always question the actual presence of style or marketability. sure the images are dope to look at, but in what sense are we given something we can produce in real life, in our everyday style presence? i could never wear a pair of leather pants with a leather face mask to work. all shade & questionable remarks aside, i love the direction & execution of the volcanic concept. represented by ford models europe, roman looks incredible  throughout. with that said, i appreciate the refined darker edge.
