fall collections, new york: vena cava

by Jeremy Danté

the FW10 vena cava collection hosted a number of questionable runway garments & irritatingly dated design influences. i like the use of fur & fox tails, but the collections construction seemed overall sloppy. grey & blue toned prints were highlighted by black making the print pale. while some looks went for a lavish winter wear appeal, others just made me stare blankly at the screen. especially the overall/lamé dress; what was that? im completely dissapointed by this collection, the hats in the collection aren’t done stylistically at all; in fact it seems as though it was the fastest attempt possible to avoid having to do the models hair. lets hope that the vena cava team can pull it together next season.
