fall couture collections: stéphane rolland

by Jeremy Danté

a devastatingly elegant collection was presented by stéphane rolland for the FW10 haute couture season. as another collection posted in high quality, the images give you a greater sense of the cut & textures presented by rolland this season. kept simple in black & white with shades of rich navy & charcoaled greys- the collection capitalized on volume & silhouette as well as drawing in references of flowing design. the runway sequence started out very controlled with the more simple designs allowing tension to build to the dramatic finale. silhouette’s seemed to expand as the collection progressed & i found myself beginning to appreciate this concept of creative control. hold the audience to their knees & have them on their feet by the final. a strong set of design & amazing presentation with just the right amount of restraint. a very inspiring set.
