springs collections: z spoke by zac posen, new york

with runway opener sessilee lopez jump starting the z spoke by zac posen spring collection runway show, we see a much more casual side of the zac posen design aesthetic. fun party dresses with creative layering & an approach to palette with depth, the collection is the moderately priced division of the zac posen label. much like DKNY to donna karan, zac posen aims to build his empire & has taken initiative in branching out. while crystal renn made her runway debut, she walked along side shades of yellow, blue & black as well as floral prints. a bit of vintage flare with slight cameos of tribal influence, the collection as a whole is commercially stylish. a great addition to the runways of new york; a thoughtful set of spring fashion design.

spring collections: preen, new york

the preen collection seen on the runways of new york this season was a bit dull. much like FW10 & the overload of black on the runways, this season designers are washing their palettes out & presenting shockingly white collections. while the beginning sequence of the collection boasts iced blue & pearlized whites, the close of the collection adds depth to the light palette, ending in black fashion pieces. relaxed silhouettes were seen alongside more form fitting designs & all around a great range of looks was presented. while palette is the least of the problem, style cant be added to a collection as easily-  & style was projected in this collection fairly well this spring. admittedly, last season was much more inspiring for me.

spring collections: malandrino, new york

holding a presentation style showcase of her summer/spring 2011 collection, catherine malandrino uses progressive sensibility & modern cut throughout her latest collection. while major model sessilee lopez was spotted at the presentation, the garments flew a cut above the rest, showcasing unconventional style & groundbreaking designs. i was very impressed at the pieces that were shown, the harem pant jumpsuits, the tribal design elements- it was all orchestrated very well. progressive from start to finish, i am very impressed with malandrino this season. great style, evolved.

spring collections: jill stuart, new york

blue, neutral, yellow & black were all hosted colors for the jill stuart spring collection palette. sophisticated, soft & lightheartedly classic; the collection is stunning. while the models walked the runway, the clothes were given an air of effortlessness. after seeing so many collections thus far, the stuart design team presented a well balanced set of seasonal trend. overall, i have nothing negative to say about this collection as it is kept clean, with crisp design lines & fresh perspective. very well done.
