spring collezioni: versace, milan

by Jeremy Danté

the versace collection is one of sleek design & architectural reference. white designs with minimal colored detail allow the collection to speak to higher forms of minimalism, while contrast of design is seen through the collections use of tribal print, neutrals & bold color. footwear from the collection seemingly takes on fluid life form, seemingly rising from the ground up & around each of the models who walked the runway including joan smalls, jac jagaciak, abbey lee kershaw & kasia struss. use of orange & baby blue was seen in the collection & fringe pieces were shown toward the end concluding the collections finale. overall, i really expected more from this seasons collection. admittedly, i had expected a modernized form of floral print to be used, as well as the use of sheer & metallics- elements which are hardcore elements of the versace women, by definition. that said, solid direction & clear vision for the spring season. a powerful model cast & wide range of looks.
