spring prêt-à-porter: haider aickerman, paris

by Jeremy Danté

architecturally structured & dramatic, the haider aickerman SS11 collection manages to fuse classic style & progressive concept. a multi-colored set of long gowns with strategic use of color were created in stunning form. in sequence, the show pieces enter the runway in black as the palette, literally, bleeds red as the set progressed. blue, yellow, teal, red & neutral were all included in this seasons palette as each model walked with layers of garments on the concrete runway. the use of color as contrast is interesting, but i would’ve like to see more versatility from look to look; as many of the designs are gowns. a strong showing for the aickerman label this season, though i do feel that many styles presented feel a bit more fall than they do spring.
