pre-fall collections: thakoon

by Jeremy Danté

kept understated & refined, the 2011 pre-fall collection presented by thakoon was one of clean design. with a pretty wide palette, contrasts of red with excellent use of print stood out most within the set. showcasing casual style, the thakoon collections always represented concepts that can be used one of two ways, whether formal or casual. a street sensibility is felt in the clothes; it’s young & fresh- as seen in the collection. an attention was paid to length for the pre-season. im beginning to sense thakoon’s direction & am excited by what i see. i love that designers are allowing effortlessness with their pieces; whether a dress or a structured coat- i really love each piece for how simple & stylish it is. very pleased with what was presented. the collection is modernized with simplicity, while still allowing classic details to shine through piece by piece.
