menswear collections: missoni, fall

by Jeremy Danté

one aspect that i highly respect of the missoni label is that their business in fashion has a rich history & family legacy. known for their signature knitwear, the FW11 menswear collection presented stay in line with that familiar direction. this season, many designers seem to be more restrained & controlled with their choice of palette & concept. that same sense of restraint was seen for missoni, as models walked the runway with caps that covered their eyes. i will say that the missoni collections, whether menswear or womenswear, are very one note & little to no variation is seen from season to season. i understand the need to build heritage, cohesively, but it’s also important not to become a fashion one note. with that said, i admire their intention & their continuity through consistency for both menswear & womenswear, as well as through marketing & development.
