fall collections, london: felder felder

by Jeremy Danté

in paying tribute to their punk rock roots, the felder felder FW11 collection taps into dark edge & hard rock style for london fashion week. this season, models walked the runway in bold blues & soft whites, equipped with a dark lip while being decorated with bullet holes & hair. elements of unexpected design decisions were seen, which allowed the collection to break free from design regularity. super short mini dresses along with use of metallics & a bit of gothic influence were also seen in the collection. use of print added femininity to the hard edged direction this season & overall, a solid direction is seen; collectively through each of the looks. i would’ve like to see more exaggeration of the concepts- i didn’t expect the bullet holes or hair accents, but even with those dramatic editions, the vision is still very tame & less outrageous than could’ve been. the felder felder label is comprised of twin sisters, annette & daniela. both studied at central saint martins graduating in 2006/2007. in 2010, the felder felder label made it’s runway debut at london fashion week & here this is their latest collection. a strong direction & well developed vision but i would like to see more dramatization flexed next season.
