fall collections, london: sass + bide
by Jeremy Danté
vibrantly inspired, the sass & bide FW11 collection is one of beautiful tones & bold direction. created by heidi middleton & sarah-jane clarke, the sass & bide label is orignally from sydney, australia & was established in 1990. since 1999, the sass & bide collections have been presented at london fashion week but have also been presented on the runways of australian fashion week & were presented for eight consecutive season at new york fashion week in the past. this season a greatly developed direction is seen as tribal, african & aboriginal inspiration seeming flutter off of each look that is presented on the runway. i loved the bold palette of orange, pink & yellow that was seen alongside bits of white, brown & red. an intricate detail in the collection was seen for a few looks that resembled fish scales ever so chicly. relaxed & exotic, the sass & bide collection presented this season seemingly references the australian sun & surf style that has been associated with middleton & clarke’s roots. a beautifully executed set of design was seen & headwear as well as exotic accessories allowed the collection vision to become even more greatly pronounced. incredibly ill attention was paid to silhouette, shape & volume. very well done, i love.
