fall collections, london: matthew williamson
by Jeremy Danté
a beautifully executed collection was presented by matthew williamson at london fashion week for the FW11 season. a successful merge of varied concepts was seen as fur, pattern & both dark & bold tones were fused together perfectly. i loved the intricate details that were worked into the collection, allowing a complex style to become strongly represented. fur was glamorously introduced while williamson’s design signature was seen in the collections use of prints. the coats of the set were chicly decorated with pattern, an aspect i admire & applaud. with a bit of athletic inspiration, a variety of styles were intertwined this season as bohemian styles were seen with more classic silhouettes. contrast took center stage & added more depth to the collection. strong direction & well developed concepts were presented. great use of color & close attention is paid to design details.
