editorialesque » yasmin warsame for italian vogue

by Jeremy Danté

through the lens of miles aldridge, yasmin warsame appears for the april issue of italian vogue decked in evening wear & looking chic as ever. styled by patti wilson, color was a headlining element throughout the set as yasmine elevates the levels of sophistication felt through each image, for each look. wether drenched in blue dyed bath water in a royal blue gown or crawling in zebra print- i always feel like the fashion industry could use more of yasmin. i first discovered her in italian vogue’s black issue in 2008- im always incredibly impressed by how refined & exotic her beauty is. her career began in 2000, when she was booking gigs to do catalog work for sears, shortly after she made her runway debut during the fall of 2002, walking for balmain, ungaro & valentino. during 2008, she was requested by steven meisel & shot the black issue, which seen her appearing alongside sessilee lopez, jourdan dunn & naomi campbell. warsame has continued to work doing catalog work & has even become a judge on canada’s next top model. represented by IMG paris, yasmin has become a contracted face for l’oreal & im hoping that this will allow her to gain more visibility. as demonstrated here, yasmin posseses the photographic presence expected of top models in fashion. i love this series of images- from set to style, it’s all stunning.
