quite possibly one of the most avant garde ready-to-wear labels of the past five years, KTZ spared no expense at pulling the conceptual trigger for the FW14 men’s show season. imaginative and inspired, the collection defined the very essence of cool. the models were frost faced with paint which allowed the conceptualization of the clothing to be seen, almost highlighted. the consistent theme of blended aesthetics of urban street wear and luxury apparel were visible in the collections use of silhouette, textiles and never once did any look lack originality. KTZ is one of the more entertaining labels to watch, and fit right in with the rest of the london fashion scene. still considerably new to the world of runway, this is only the labels fourth collection to be presented in this arena. brought to life through the the minds of creative director, marja pejoski and head designer koji maruyama, KTZ was created following the success of the label, kokon to zai. created by sasko bezovski, the kokon to zai label was inspired through bezovski’s international career as a DJ through the 80’s. overseeing all operational, commercial and financial areas of the KTZ/kokon to zai business, you see the influence of sound, international appeal and street sensibility in the clothes that are presented by KTZ. after opening a kokon to zai store front in greece in 96, the collaboration known as KTZ was born. there is a street appeal that branches outside of conventional cool though, which makes it that much more interesting to watch. with an impressive stocklist; this season’s menswear effort is definitely a strong armed signal that expansion is the intention. beautiful use of print has become a KTZ staple, their designs never lacking or dull- this collection follows suit in that same lane. impressive through execution with use of metallic, and thoughtful injections of black; the label establishes themselves much more strongly with this set. im definitely excited to see the womenswear side of this collection and anticipate that collection in february. one of the strongest collections of the season thus far, and an exciting addition to menswear.
