editorialesque » yasmin warsame for italian vogue

through the lens of miles aldridge, yasmin warsame appears for the april issue of italian vogue decked in evening wear & looking chic as ever. styled by patti wilson, color was a headlining element throughout the set as yasmine elevates the levels of sophistication felt through each image, for each look. wether drenched in blue dyed bath water in a royal blue gown or crawling in zebra print- i always feel like the fashion industry could use more of yasmin. i first discovered her in italian vogue’s black issue in 2008- im always incredibly impressed by how refined & exotic her beauty is. her career began in 2000, when she was booking gigs to do catalog work for sears, shortly after she made her runway debut during the fall of 2002, walking for balmain, ungaro & valentino. during 2008, she was requested by steven meisel & shot the black issue, which seen her appearing alongside sessilee lopez, jourdan dunn & naomi campbell. warsame has continued to work doing catalog work & has even become a judge on canada’s next top model. represented by IMG paris, yasmin has become a contracted face for l’oreal & im hoping that this will allow her to gain more visibility. as demonstrated here, yasmin posseses the photographic presence expected of top models in fashion. i love this series of images- from set to style, it’s all stunning.

editorialesque » alana zimmer for muse

represented by ford models, alana zimmer appears editorially & stunningly for the pages of muse magazine. shot by danielle + inago, alana showcases versatility through style & switches it up while going from a ‘fro to a sleek up-do. clad in some of spring’s most femininely chic pieces, zimmer is a mainstay in the modeling industry & has garnered respect in the game for her consistent photographic performances & hard hitting bookings. originally from ontario, canada- you might recognize alana from her wide range of editorial work or more specifically for her campaign work- last fall alana appeared as the face of elie tahari, the gap, margaret howell, MAC & nicole miller. stunning images & beautiful styling allow alana to come alive in her most fashionable form. i love alana’s sleek facial features & admire her as a cross between commercial beauty & modernized model standards. whether editorially, on the runway or when booking campaigns- alana kills it every single time.

editorialesque » diego fragoso for l’officiel hommes

after creating a noteable buzz when appearing on the runway for both givenchy & louis vuitton during spring show season in 2010, diego fragoso is beginning to enter the editorial circuit. shot here by milan vukmirovic for the l’officiel hommes, fragoso is of brazilian ethnicity & is represented by request models. for fall show season, fragoso was seen on the runway for D&G, dolce & gabbana, DSQUARED & givenchy. while tapping into a slight reference of a beauty spread, i love diego’s look. brazilian’s continue to enter in fashion & are still wildly successful in doing so, diego seems to be of that crop. after consistent runway bookings,  leading to editorial, fragoso’s givenchy alliance is an indication that campaign contracts aren’t far behind.

fall shwpckg: next models, new york

as a progressive agency representing the best of the best for the future of high end fashion, next models ny has unleashed some of the baddest chicks in the game since they opened their doors in 1989. with 15 top ranked females sitting pretty on the agencies women’s board, these girls pack a powerful punch on the runways. anja rubik, karlie kloss, abbey lee, catherine mcneil, tatiana cotliar, shu pei, kendra spears, hailey clauson & zuana bijoch are names we’ve seen plastered on billboards, walking the runway for dior, chanel campaigns left & right- but the true star of this year is arizona muse. she has had an incredible rise landing a YSL campaign & italian vogue one month in to 2011. no dobut in my mind she will be one to watch on the runway along with our usual slayers karlie kloss, anja rubik & abbey lee. im also expecting big things on the runway & beyond for ms. shu pei, who recently booked the SS11 vera wang campaign as well as the givenchy couture presentation.

fall shwpckg: next model men, new york

with new faces tommy, chris, wiktor, sean & luc faron being added for the FW11 show season, the mens of next models pale in comparison to their own womensboard. while we see familiar faces laurence mcrea, who has had noted success, internationally with editorial; we also see raymond irving, brazilian breed rodrigo calazans, makin cury, samuel daynie, vincent lacrocq & jamie strachan. aside from mcrea, vincent has been seen for campaigns with flippa k, as well as few editorial bookings with arena homme+, men’s vogue china, details, interview & fantastic man. jamie strachan ranks as one of fashion’s highest earning male models & has appeared for countless bookings over the span of his 10 year modeling career. though few have impressive resumes, i’ve yet to be wowed by the men of next models. fashion week is coming.

fall shwpckg: dna model men, new york

with an increasingly impressive men’s board presented for the fall show season in new york, DNA models has been much more well known for their women’s board. with an intent to change that perception, probably one of the most successful & groundbreaking models on the men’s board is andrej pejic. with a look dipped in androgyny, andrej has been picked up as a favorite of jean-paul gaultier, booking the gaultier campaign & haute couture runway show, closing the show as bride, last month in paris. in addition to pejic, colby jamar, dominique hollington, dorian cobb, grayson vaughn, josh beech, lasse pedersen, mark cox, nils butler & philip huang have been seen faces & known names in both commercial & high end bookings. one of my favorite male models of this batch is dominique hollington, who made an agency switch previously being signed with red models. you’ve seen dorian cobb appear for H&M, josh beech appears in the SS11 moschino menswear campaign. as the world of male models swells with popularity, DNA models has a strong cast of males that will be watched on the runways.
