editorialesque » isabeli fontana + clément chabernaud for vogue paris

beautifully bold tones, sexual chemistry- two aspects of image that are clearly represented for the pages of french vogue through the lens of mert + marcus. represented by women model management, isabeli fontana is seen colorfully for the pages of french vogue alongside male model, clément chabernaud of wilhelmina. as mentioned previously for the issues covers, some have noted photographic similarities to that of steven mesiel for a spread that used linda evangelista. what amazes me is this concept of whose to blame; in my constant review of editorial a number of people point their fingers every direction. similar aesthetics are seen in the work of mert & marcus, as the two have been known to pay tribute to the greats before them. while some question the inspiration as lack of creative ability, the purpose of serving up a beautiful image is demonstrated clearly. both fontana & chabernaud fit well together & i love the focus upon color. appropriate for the spring,  prada’s banana prints & versaces color splash patterns are all seen beautifully throughout the spread. isabeli is one of my favorites, as is clement- mert & marcus kill it everytime. in living color, summer never looked so good.

fall menswear, new york: rag + bone

as new york fashion week goes through the motions of  presenting both menswear & womenswear side by side, not opting for a menswear show in milan; rag & bone presented their menswear collection on the runways in new york, yesterday. mirroring the same outrageous innovation & wild concepts through controlled creativity, the menswear collection uses a stunning yellow within their palette that wasn’t seen for the labels womenswear collection. similar use of plaid is seen in the menswear as more structure is expected for a menswear collection. statement coats are expected for fall collections & are presented in this collection in wool in blue, black, neutral & brown plaid. while minimal use of fur was seen within this set, i would’ve liked to see more breakout moments & more risks taken, being that menswear is usually under very strict guidelines given the need for tailored looks. masculine & sophisticated, even through wild styling & insane layering, the collection mirrors the creativity seen in the womenswear collection very well. i loved the collections use of blue at the close of the collection. the opportunity to contrast simplified concepts to more wild designs was done very well with the menswear collection. most menswear collections are held to a greater standard of control & order, whereas womenswear is much more expected to take risks & be a force of change in fashion. i love the idea of seeing menswear in new york as well, it allows a greater sense of connection for labels to present both collections to a stateside audience. new york is incredibly creative this season with a packed schedule of both new & veteran designers. that said, both new & veteran male models were seen on the runways for rag & bone this season as corey baptiste & yuri pleskun were seen on the runway alongside clement chabernaud & josh beech. among the throngs of creatives, rag & bone certainly holds their own, as demonstrated here. strong collection, one of my favorites.

fall shwpckg: wilhelmina model men, new york

with an established fashion foundation, the men of wilhelmina models are among the best in the business. andre douglas, armando cabral, clement chabernaud, diego miguel, garrett neff, jonathan keyser, mathias bergh, nicolas ripoll, noah mills, oriol ochoas, ryan kennedy, taylor fuchs, todd hudson & vladimir ivanov have been seen everywhere from the gap to vogue hommes japan, even on the silver screen in the past two years. outstanding talents from the wilhelmina men’s board include clement chabernaud, who has really been a new breed of male supermodels on the runway, editorially & through campaign bookings. you seen noah mills as a love interest of samantha jones for the film sequel to sex & the city. diego miguel burst onto the international model scene as a casted face for the SS11 DSQUARED2 campaign. these are the male models to beat in high end fashion, these are the names & faces to watch on the runway. these men will open & close all of the top shows in new york.

menswear collection: salvatore ferragamo, fall

while other designers have opted for a color palette of bold choices in unexpected areas of design, like the inner lining of coats; the salvatore ferragamo collection creates one of the most beautiful color stories of the fall season, in milan. beginning with a light base of neutrals, bone & skin toned designs, the collection slowly begins to heat to rusted oranges burning to brown; ultimately cooling through use of green teal & deep rooted aqua. shades, big brimmed fedora’s, suede coats, use of leather were all elements interlaced into this season’s collection, which proves to be a beautiful addition to the ferragamo archives.

menswear collections: trussardi, fall

celebrating 100 years in fashion, the trussardi menswear collection presented via live feed today was one of great style & expert execution. creatively directed by fashion heavyweight, milan vukmirovic; the trussardi 1911 FW11 collection capitalized on leather, leather & yes, more leather. progressive with mindful classic elements, the collection allows masculinity to shine while style is not sacrificed. with rob evans of major opening the menswear show, clément chabernaud of wilhelmina closed while a walk & wave by vukmirovic lead the show to a black fade out. surprising, is the fact that a runway show & live stream were opted for as last season’s collection was shown through image look book with no runway. that said, the collections combination of dark details, raw style edge & clean tailoring shows that the label is entering a new era with a renewed sense of verver. a beautifully executed collection of menswear with a stunning cast of male models. milan vukmirovic is impossibly ill.

editorialesque » clément chabernaud for arena homme +

clément chabernaud appears for the winter issue of arena homme + through the lens of willy vanderperre. with editing by olivier rizzo, the spread takes on a sort of twisted downtown type of feel. represented by wilhelmina, clément ranks as fashion’s no. 6 male model, within the top 50. becoming recognized through his work with balmain, for their season look books, chabernaud has also done outstanding campaign work this past fall appearing for prada, gianfranco ferré & has appears for adidas SLVR for their spring campaign. i love the focus on lighting with this spread; whether a grimy hotel or a street corner- light was manipulated incredibly well. willy vanderperre’s photographic signature has been applied to campaigns for cerruti, aquascutum, raf simons for fred perry, elie saab, jil sander & raf simons. vanderperre’s work has also appeared consistently for V, i-D & british vogue, he is also a contributing editor russian vogue  & photographed the givenchy haute couture collection, presented in paris this past july. though elements of the spread are a bit off base, i appreciate the intentional non-styling & opposition seen in wardrobe choices. make-up for the spread was done by darlene jacobs. clément displays enormous talent while allowing the casual to be seen as something extraordinarily chic.
