megamodel in the making, alessandra ambrosio appears for the december issue of vogue méxico. seen through the lens of stewart shining, ambrosio is represented by elite models & has had an impressive year in high end editorial. for this cover, we see the expected image of what we know as alessandra ambrosio, the victoria’s secret angel; not a hair out of place, skin gleaming beautifully, a sexy slinky navy dress caressing brazilian curves- you know, commercial beauty. while i love the cover for it’s hardcore adherence to stereotypical glamour, i also celebrate the versatility that alessandra has shown for this year & much of last year. her editorial work with vogue nippon, giampalo sgura & sølve sundsbø were exceptionally impressive; as we seen elements of an overextended forms of beauty. with willy vanderperre & russian vogue, alessandra seduced us once more & she covered love magazine through the lens of mert + marcus adding a face to the title of, angel. with russh magazine she allowed fashion to transcend as art in body & i’ve grown to appreciate her skills immensely. topping off a great year, this cover leads her into the new year with a renewed sense of fashion respect in my book. i expect her to gain more high end fashion notoriety in the coming year. one of the baddest bitches outta brazil since gisele- alessandra is a bombshell.
represented by elite model management, dree hemingway appears editorially for this glitter supplement accompanying the november issue of italian vogue. shot by richard burbridge, we see dree styled by robbie spencer in a wide range of lively hats & headpieces. with hair & make-up by esther langham & sally branka, the spread is given an opulent air of detail with set design orchestrated by michael reynolds. ranking no. 15 within the top 50 female models of fashion, you might recognize dree from this years spring jean paul gaultier or fall’s ferragamo attimo fragrance campaign. with a widely sucessful year in campaigns as well as high end editorial, dree has demonstrated her ability to rise to the occassion with some of the best. dree is the daughter of actress, mariel hemingway & the grand daughter of american literature icon ernest hemingway.
shot by solve sundsbo, with styling by katie grand; ana beatriz & alessandra ambrosio appears for the october issue of vogue nippon. nothing makes me smile harder than bad females looking refined & classic. the use of color in this spread is shockingly chic, katie grand went in on this spread. both ana & alessandra are represented by elite models & both rank among the top sexiest females in the fashion game. while the only sexually relative elements are the exposed legs, the spread is still entirely captivating from concept to outfit. one of my favorite spreads.
represented by elite models, alessandra ambrosio appears for the september issue of australian publication, russh. shot by will davidson, hair was done by shin arima, with fashion editing by stevie dance. i love how the spread captures movement & an almost deconstructed, undone perception of beauty. we see some of fall’s most glamourous pieces being tossed about by the elements & alessandra really does a breakthrough performance for me. the greyscaled editorial contains added depth in opposition of the colorized cover, which also features ambrosio. a stunning set & especially important for ambrosio’s plans to further conquer the realm of fashion & editorial.
represented by elite model management, alessandra ambrosio is on a mission to conquer the high end fashion editorial game & appears on the july cover of vogue brazil. shot by jacques dequeker, styling for the spread was done by giovanni frasson with hair & make-up by robert estevão. while i love the feature editorial- styling, set & all; i really dont like that the cover seems so aesthetically disconnected from what was done editorially. take for instance the gucci dress on the cover, you dont even see anything even remotely similar in the styled pieces seen in the spread- while the textured walls & victorian elements of the spread add charm & depth, the washed out background of the cover come off as bland. i believe that the cover should grab you & move you to purchase the issue- not leave you guessing & have you surprised when you actually open the issue. i fully appreciate ambrosio for the july issue, but would’ve liked to see much more creative effort from the cover to the feature spread.
