maryna linchuk for derek lam, fall

the FW10 derek lam campaign is seen through the lens of sølve sundsbø; maryna linkchuk appears giving cowgirl chic in the campaigns faux sunset backdrop. this is lam’s second campaign ever & thus far, i have been very impressed with the level of sophistication the images have been shot. a clear translation of lam’s vision as a designer, even when sampling a trend, design lines are kept clean & chic. the derek lam label has been in existence since 2003, lam hails from san francisco.

lara stone for calvin klein jeans x, fall

what yo’ name iz? aj abualrub, grayson vaughan,
sid ellisdon, eric anderson, lara stone

shot by mert + marcus, lara stone appears as the only female in the calvin klein jeans x campaign for the FW10 fashion season. in addition to landing the denim campaign, stone also appears as the face of the calvin klein collection campaign as well. i think it says a lot about lara’s status in fashion; she’s a strong female with undeniable photographic presence, as seen in the campaign images. i really like the contrast of the black & white image & the red ink. most campaigns for the fall have opted for grey scaled images & the use of red creates some form of distinction. the campaign is edgy, a bit industrial & sexy all the same.

the fall givenchy campaign

what yo’ name iz? simon nessman, catherine mcneil, mariacarla boscono, mengyao mingxi,
malgosia bela, jonathan marquez, willy cartier, joan smalls, paolo rolden & lea t.

shot by mert + marcus, the fall givenchy campaign hosts a number of top models in what is the most anticipated ad campaign for the fall season. joan appears almost unrecognizably transformed in the campaign images. im losing my shit over this; added the fact that a transexual model was added to this seasons cast- insanity, i love. we get all the right ethnic model touches this seaso. an amazingly well executed concept by ricardo tisci; givenchy continues to amaze season after season.

fall collection: mychael knight, carte blanche

showcasing modernization through fashion forward designs, mychael knight presents his FW10 collection in the form of ‘carte blanche’. while we see black & white designs, my fascination with the collection is found in the design details. houndstooth, sheer embroidery & amazingly structured silhouettes were showcased throughout the collection. fashion is all about changing perceptions & evolution personified; both aspects were represented well within this fall collection. you may remember mychael as a contestant on project runway, considered one of the most talented of the shows designers, knight manages to incorporate sex appeal, sophistication & architectural influence all in one collection. i love this collection, from start to finish.

paris collections: fall vuitton handbags

as one of the most valued brands in the world, right after AT&T & HSBC, the fall collection presented for louis vuitton keys in to the luxury labels most valued asset- the handbag. while chicks will go broke, put themselves on wait lists & save for months on end just to cop one; the vuitton brand is known for producing statement piece handbags. this collection was no different. as an avid support of anti-bootlegging of designer goods, my interest goes beyond vanity or any form of materialism. the purchase of fake desginer goods contributes to the loss of over 250,000 jobs in america- yearly. as the most counterfeited brand globally, bogus designer fakes promote child labor, drug & sex trafficing, as well as terrorism. while we all love to look glamorous its just as important for us to respect fashion as an art form- enough to be willing to drop dime for some authentic designer shit. the collection presented for the FW10 season was nothing short of astonishing; new concepts around the signature LV monogram were matched with an assortment of other foreign textiles. different applique detailing was matched to different forms of leather; while we seen different forms of the vuitton style signatures. i think one of the most amazing aspects of the vuitton name at the current time is marc jacobs’ ability to reinvent something so classic; he has clearly redefined the vuitton name & catapulted its legacy beyond limitation without any end in sight. fashion is about evolution, progression & change- above are eight of my favorite bags from this seasons collection. the bags stole the show!

fall prêt-à-porter, paris: hermès

the hermès FW10 collection presented dark design concepts this season. while it seemed as though gaultier’s signature concepts made their way into the collection, i found the set a bit unsurprising. while the model casting was dope as expected, with lily cole opening, i wanted to see something that spoke more to hermès clientele. the collection looks reminded me of the 1971 stanley kubrick film, clockwork orange. i loved the use of leather & the top hats brought a new focus for the brand. overall, the collection was fair- i was more excited about the models than the clothes; which isnt always the best at paris fashion week.
