fall collezioni, milan: gianfranco ferré

beautifully minimal with inspiring construction of classic fall pieces, the FW11 collection presented by gianfranco ferré is one of stunning concepts. as i was initially romanticized by the collections use of soft neutrals at the front end of the show sequence, the collections use of darker tones of purple, grey & navy added dimension to the set, in avoidance of making a dulled set of watered down shades. clean lines were greatly represented as multi-lapel layered coats were the headlining concept for me. i love nothing more in design than strict lines & a clean aesthetic- two aspects which were presented all thoughout this collection. while i was not as inspired by the collections use of metallics, i applaud the attempt & cohesion felt through those included elements. appropriate for fall, creative director, roberto rimondi paid close attention to long design lines, which were a theme of the collection. all the style elements were covered while not doing too much, rather just enough. i love the collection & am expecting a campaign that will mirror the same aesthetic of cleanliness seen here.

spring collezioni: gianfranco ferré, milan

braided designs in rich earth tones, white, soft neutral & shots of pink satin were seen from the gianfranco ferré label this season. detailed design elements were seen on the collections dresses as metallic elements were fused with the use of satin. i loved the minimal designs that were seen in white; proving that versatility was showcased from hardcore detail to strict minimalism. overall, i was very impressed at how thoughtful each look & design was this season. beautiful use of sheer was seen in the collection gowns towards the end of the collection. providing a simple color story, with pink as a shot of contrast, the collection manages to intertwine color palette & design trends of the season very well. a solid direction, very good collection.

menswear collections: gianfranco ferré, spring

reportedly, the gianfranco ferré label went bankrupt last february & bidding for the company started on the 16th of this month. amidst their financial crisis & pushing to survive, the label presents a solid summer/spring menswear season. while i feel that some of the concepts & tailoring were a bit too dated, the collection displays a fresh use of color & a wide range of looks is presented. as bidding is underway, reports are saying that korean based samsung & a private equity firm in italy have both expressed interest in bidding. will provide more developments on the fate of the ferré brand as they are released.

fall collezioni, milan: gianfranco ferré

keeping a very controlled color palette for the fall, the gianfranco label always showcases sleek designs with italian style sensibility. while expert construction between fur & leather textiles was displayed, supermodel, monika ‘jac’ jagaciak opened & closed the show. i always love how understated the gianfranco ferré collections are; this season they capitalized & presented new forms of leather construction. in this collection, runway 10 is a completely fresh take on a leather blouse- only gianfranco ferré. architectural influence is seen in the clean lines that are continually displayed at the label & the clean chic that is always represented has become a gianfranco ferré signature. the fur coat is complete glamour & im anxious to see the campaign for this collection.

fall menswear, runway: gianfranco ferré

the gianfranco ferré menswear collection is my most favorite of the season, thus far. plaids, leather & fur are all creatively conceptualized for the brands FW10 collection & though edge is seen, many traditional elements give the set added strength. i love the belted waist looks & the grey coats are death. though black & white designs have been seen a million times before, the ferré label seemingly gives the palette a rebirth. completely chic, the collection is every aspect of chic imaginable.

mina + jakob for gf by gianfranco ferré

mina cvetkovic of next company vienna & jakob wiechmann of ford models new york appeared for the spring GF by gianfranco ferre ad campaign. shot by emilio tini, the campaign makes an attempt to use glitter in a different way & instead of creatively showcasing it; it actually seems like a mess. in most cases, campaigns allow models to be showcased on a much more broad platform & tossed glitter covering their faces defeats the purpose. i love the use of glitter when i can see the models & their faces; but i think the direction of the campaign could’ve been better directed & executed. i live & love the black & white shots.

dree hemingway for gianfranco ferré, spring

represented by elite model management, dree hemingway appears for the spring gianfranco ferré campaign. shot by inez + vinoodh, the campaign set is simple & chic. i love the windblown hair & the movements showcased by the garments. its almost as if dree is floating through a plaid design, a very dope concept & simplistically executed. dree is having an exceptional season & entry in the new year; in addition to this campaign she also appears for jean paul gaultier & valentino as the main face for all two, now three brands. thats an incredible resume addition for one season & just one girl. get ’em dree.
