collection images: burberry prorsum, resort

perhaps one of the strongest labels in fashion, let alone in london, burberry presents their 2012 resort collection. shot in paris, the collection continues down the path they’ve created in the last couple of seasons; combining classical aspects of their own heritage with that of more modern design perspective. i loved the use of palette in the collection- the entrance of neutrals that soon burned to a set of yellows that managed to cool to tones of blue & green, ending in plum & navy tones. as demonstrated in the past, christopher bailey has a very strong direction in his work with burberry & the two have proved to be a perfect fit. accessories have a noticeable presence in the collection which goes to show you how mindful the london based label is in terms of a marketing presence. beautiful color story, very inspiring. super excited to see what burberry presents for SS12.

fall collections, london: vivienne westwood red label

the crazed style vision of vivienne westwood was presented at london fashion week for fall, this time for westwood’s red label. the vivienne westwood collections always display an air of deconstructed glamour, an opposition to the clean lines & refined style we see from many other labels. as an independent creative force, the westwood red label presents feathers pants, beautifully constructed caramel toned pieces & concentrated use of print was seen. metallics were seen alongside animal print, plaid & even more minimally styled pieces that never once strayed from the distinct westwood way. i love the collection more than i have in season’s past & can always appreciate dame vivinenne’s approach to design. i often compare the westwood collections to beer-it’s an acquired  tasted. i love that our perceptions of style are challenged with her work.

fall collections, london: ppq

quirkyly chic headgear was the defining element of the PPQ collection, when presented this season at new york fashion week. the attention to detail seen within the collection is distinctively british & i am in love with the collections perception of silhouette. strong shoulders, princess capped sleeves, pigtails, cat-eared caps, velvet & three dimensional sleeve details were all packed into the collection both stylishly & imaginatively. though intimate in number the looks provide a strong direction & well focused set of concepts that ring true to the style rebellion felt in london’s internationally recognized fashion scene. a strong collection, charming qualities or past design references are seen as some elements give off a 90’s feel. created in 1992 in london, the PPQ label has outfitted some of music’s most fearless fashion heads including amy winehouse, rihanna, sienna miller & alexa chung. with ownership of a musical label, the imagination seen in today’s outfits worn by musical artists, the sometimes outrageous looks make perfect sense when considering the attention seeking, jaw-dropping glamourous & wild designs of this set.

karlie kloss for aquascutum, fall

what yo’ name iz? matt benstead, tristan knights, jacob coupe, karlie kloss

much like lara stone for calvin klein jeans, karlie kloss stands alone as the single female amidst male models for the fall aquascutum ad campaign. shot by willy vanderperre, the model cast appears windswept against a gloomy sky clad in classic black & white attire. represented by next models ny, kloss is clearly the star of the campaign; in addition to being the only female within the cast, kloss has landed fall campaigns with dior & donna karan this season. styling by edward enninful.

pre-fall collections: burberry prorsum

the burberry prorsum pre-fall collections seems the perfect segue from the SS10 collection to fall. i love the color palette & the textiles look chic as ever. the burberry label will be showing in london again this fall & if this collection is any indication of what is to be seen on the runways, im already in love. burberry killed their spring collection & i have high hopes for what will be seen this fall. i love the bronze tones & the uplifting lilac brings an element of freshness to the collection. the most interesting characteristic of this pre-fall set is the attention to detail with the shapes & silhouettes. i love the strong coats, burberry is well known for their coats & we see a wide variety in shapes, which is prime for this label. the incorporation of denim is done so in a very chic manner while the inclusion of fur is well executed as well. love burberry & all that they are doing. i love the rich navys & militant greens. inspiration from this collection was drawn from world war one. can you see it?
