with styling by simon robins, sharif hamza captures some of fashion’s hottest baddest chicks. victoria’s secret angels are seen alongside campaign crushers as animalistic design details in the form of camel coats, ostrich feathers, zebra & leopard printed coats run. an amazing showing in versatile styling & diversified casting, the spread contributes to a promising september issue for russian vogue. the styling is incredibly well executed & the textured backdrop adds detailed variations compared to bland studio shots in pure white or an overpowering depth that is often seen in black. perfect use of styling.
shot by greg lotus, sedene blake & ayan elmi appear for the june beauty supplement. beautifully shot in bathing suits alongside nautical stripes, i live & love this spread entirely. sedene blake is represented by new york model management & is the female that appears on the cover of the supplement. alongside sedene is ayan elmi, who comes up through my research as a model represented by next models toronto & is represented here in new york by major. while sedene has broken into the scene editorially, recently being featured as one of the many black models cast for interview magazine’s spread with daria werbowy, ayan is seemingly under the radar though she has walked for jean paul gaultier as far back as 2007. i think its interesting that so many models of color are now being cast into the spotlight after being in the industry & on the grind for so many years. im very happy to see the transition & hope that this colorization in fashion is here to stay & not regarded as a trend that will die a few seasons from now. congratulations to both sedene & ayan for gaining more fashion exposure.
